  • Ralph Murphy - one of boat racing's best friends

I just got word that Ralph passed away at 5:21 this afternoon.

This picture is from the 2003 NBRA Nationals. The Weigh Master is Ralph Murphy. Long after he quit driving he was still attending races and helping anyone and everyone in any way he could. He was the last surviving member of the D.O.M Racing Team.

I'll miss you Ralph. All of boat racing will miss you. Here's to the Dirty Ole Men Racing Team!

One thing you could count on was if there was a boat race in Alex, Ralph would be there if not racing , doing anything that needed to be done.. My friend you will be missed. As a boatracer, friend and person no one will be able to fill your shoes....

I was told about Ralph today while we were testing... I will miss that old man, he was there at every race in Alex that I have ever raced at and he always was such an encouraging and entertaining individual. While racing this weekend at the AOF Nationals, i know that I will be thinking about what he would be saying to me between heats. We have truly lost one of the good Ole boys... I miss ya Ralph.

Anyo ne have any information as to burial arrangements and such?
