    Sorry, mister............

    but anyone that has to swim out to get his"dead in the water" R/C boat is about 3 cents short of a dollar in the brain department!!! There was some guy earlier this year that drowned swimming after his "dead in the water" R/C boat somewhere in the midwest, I believe. I have also heard of many horror stories about close calls involving this, too. Do yourself and the local rescue squad a favor and take a fishing pole with a weighted tennis ball on the end or a Jon Boat and some paddles with you when you go to run your boat. Save your family the embarrasment of having the people in your community reading about your stupid a$$ drowning after attempting to swim after a toy boat.

          Dick;
          I remember that story being posted. The guy was in Cincinnati. I tried a quick search but can't find the article. I remember it being posted on intlwaters.com.

            Hey, I'm sorry if my reply to this is comming across a bit harsh, but until you have seen what the R/C boat hobby and their racing is all about, you just don't know, okay? I have seen a person fall out of a jon boat who went out to get the dead boats on the course after a race and he WAS DROWNING and a person from shore swam out to save him. Are there life jackets in the retrieve boat? Yes there are. Do they wear them? Not usually, just like the big boat racers. You don't see people swimming after the outboards when they cut off on the course, do you? If you ever watched an R/C boat race and the distance they can cover, you would understand the situation, Phil.

              Right on, Dick . . .

              Many moons ago I owned a hobby shop and was involved in R?C racing, power boats and sailboats. The 7.5cc hydros could top 80mph! I'm sure if one could search old news reports there is more than one incident of an out-of-control R/C boat puncturing an aluminum jon boat. I recall a race on the Reflecting Pool in Washington DC where an R/C hydro's radio crapped out and the boat hit land and went airborne, crashing less than a foot away from a couple sitting on the grass, engine screaming, tiny prop chewing up the lawn.

              Safety issues with R/Cs isn't much different than real boats. Swimmers OUT OF THE WATER! And rescue/retrieval boat drivers should wear their life vests. Designated swimmers on our rescue boats should be vested up and ready to hit the water.

                The worlds record for a Rc outrigger is 102.89 miles an hour the average boat is around 65 to 68 in race trim
                Two years ago I watched a 48 inch boat inbed its self in the pond bank in Orlando Florida winter gas nationals about 3/4 of its lenth after it lost its radio signal these are high speed projectiles and are not toys to be taken lightly

                  Now that you have had a "FULL REPRIMAND" on how to safely retrieve your craft , can you tell us more about it ? Engine? performance? construction ?

                  P.S. Nice looking Boat !

                      It's hard to believe these toy boats can go so FAST! Amazing!

                      Is this Joerg's boat?

                          ahh, ok. thanks all for the beating. to clarify, it was just out of reach and i didnt want to step in the yucky stuff on the bottom. the boat is 6'-6" long. i could have climbed aboard and started the engine. ok, ok. i do like the tennis ball thing though. thanks. it has a 25 QuickDraw engine. im just working out the bugs after two years of off and on work. i bought just thebare hull in horrible shape. FULL of bubbles (fiberglass). did all the bodywork and made the dorsal and wing out of balsa wrapped with fiberglass. guess i made it more for looks than racing. its fun to play with because its so big. thinking of getting a 35 QD engine though. its just something to do. would be nice to keep in some hobby shop so people could look at it though. its quite impressive. thanks for everyones response. i do listen to experience.

                            anyone have any hydro blueprints they would want to sell? about a "D" class or up (bigger). im thinking of making a carbon fiber one. i have access to a 5 axis milling machine and think this would be an awsome project. thanks again.
