Usually we have this cool event two weeks after the National Meeting. The National Meeting dates are Jan 30th- Feb 2. That would make the Snowmobile Weekend the 14th,15th,16th,17th(thursday-sunday). We have not decided were we will ride yet. We have traditionaly rode at Grand Marie. We did do it one year at my cabin in Strongs in the eastern end of the UP. I have had some request's to go back to my cabin as we have a neat party room that everyone can come and enjoy the after hours activity and not get into trouble. I can make it happen and can secure a hole hotel up the street for all to stay at. Actually we had almost 2 hotels filled up last time and had like 30 riders. I will converse with the heads to be and get a vote on what area makes the best sence. The Wild Ones were the originaters of this fun event. So Maybe Fox, Hagrel, Howard, Neeley, Ladd can jump in here and let us now how they feel. I'm going were ever it is going to be. I will help in anyway and my place is open if we choose the Eastern UP. The Casino in Brimley is a cool hotel that is about 20 miles from my cabin and could accomidate everyone. I just worry that the gamblers would blow all there gas money and have to call home and ask mama for and advance to get back home. LOL Mikey

Well the brushing party had 51 people show up to sprue up the trails the Snow Cashers groom. With the National Meeting around the corner we should probably decide where we want to go this year. The date has been the 2nd weekend after this meeting. Making plans in advance is so important as the Novi Snow show is coming up and everyone starts making reservations for weekends. When we did the ride from Strongs we had a whole hotel reservered and about half another one. If we don't have a large hotel we need to plan well in advance. Give me feedback Wild Ones. Or any of you boys from Wisconsin, New York, Indiana, or where ever you live if you want to attend this super fun weekend. Mikey

              the wild ones...

...don't get on hydroracer. you'll have to pick up the phone mikey! i don't care where either. but we should set the date and decide where soon!!

Bay Mills Casino in Brimley would be great for me (and ~4 friends as my dad lives 1 mile away) and for fun. but rooms are more $ and people could lose lots... also the raco lodge (gas stop) is closing.

strongs would be ok again. might be everyone's cheapest option. cross cut (bar) is still closed, but mikey's play house makes up for that.

grand marias has been good to us, but personally it's getting a little old.

how many dubyas are coming from the west. i'd lobby for marquette or munising if i were you. i'd give in as i've never made it over that way...

i think the 2/15-17 weekend is best. i think we should ride mid friday thru mid sunday though. some boyz might have to wait until after 2/14 (valentine's) to get their free weekend pass.

                Daytona

I like it the weekend before Daytona. The Bud shootout is on the 9th, I like to watch that on Saturday night. If you make it the next weekend when Daytona is I;m thinking that some people might not go cause of that. I know in WI we have a group that meets in Milwaukee for the start of the racing season.
I'd be up for moving the place to the East. There are some great trails over there too. I'm thinking that Hurley might be to far to the east. It's always great fun to make a lap at Wakefield. I can go faster on the snow than on the water. I also don't need a side fin.
I know that a hot tub or pool does have a calling to people who don't ride newer sleds. Some still like to ride there go fast in a straight line tanks. But it's great sport to ride beside them going home on the trail on Saturday night. Right Mike!

                  spud...

i'm glad you're not leading/navigating. moving it east wouldn't put us anywhere near wakefield!! lol...
but i'm thinking that is too far west - it would reduce MI enteries too much.

also, the weekend of 2/8-10 is fine with me BUT:
-it's only 1 week after the natioanl mtg in detroit that many of us will already be taking time off for (mikey thought 2 weeks after might be better).
-the Pearson's have their annual 'Pepsi' ride scheduled that weekend, but maybe that can be combined (or trumpted).

any other options about Daytona? i'm not a NASCAR fan, especially since those **** Toyota's will be taking over soon... lol.

                    FYI
Here is the info for the Pepsi ride: Date has been set for Feb. 8, 9 & 10. We stay in Bay Mills Casino on Friday night. They have an all you can eat Crab leg and Prime Rib Buffet... and a lot of sluts (oops, I mean slots), card tables, etc... Saturday morning the ones that are left (a few loose to much money) ride west and we're staying in Curtis Saturday night. Which ever weekend we plan for the Stag ride, this ride is still open to all who wish to come. Let me know so that we can reserve more rooms.

I would like to see the Stag ride happen the following weekend of the 15th, so I have another excuse to come up and ride. I also wouldn't mind riding more west, but Wakefield is a little farther than I'd care to go. I wouldn't mind Munising area. However, I'm just one voice in a group of many. This is only one suggestion. No matter what, I'm going ride the piss outta my crossfire this winter and see if I can blow that up too.

                    Josh

                      Munising

There is one large Best Western in town, and at least two small hotels that are not to bad at all. Sharky's Bar in town has a great crab leg buffett, and the Dog Patch Restaurant/Bar is second to none. Great place to ride and stay. Scenery is pretty good to. If you can't find a hotel there to accomodate all, look into Christmas (yes it is a town) that is only a couple miles away. They have a very small casino and hotel there along with a Sled Shop, not sure what brand it markets these days.

The Best Western is pretty decent about parties in the pool/hot tub area after hours if you keep it quiet. If guests complain they will shut it down. Not sure now if the chain has changed hands who know. Hotels seem to buy and sell locations as often as most buy new sleds now-a-days.

At any rate, the riding is pretty good in Munising last few times I have been.

Stag Weekend, Pepsi Ride, Coke, Mt. Dew, 7-Up ... ?? I don't care when or where.
Whatever , just firm up the dates and places already cause Duder's in !

Grand Marais was cool once I plowed ( and got towed ) my way in. I'd go back there .. Food at Brewery is very good, bkfast at Hotel is avail, Pool, Hot Tub.

Anybody interested in a Like new 03-07 Rev Intense Cover ? Boat Racers will get a better deal than Ebayers.

East- where the sun rises-the direction of work.
West- where the sun sets-out your patio windows over the bay.

I need to know a bit ahead of time as well. I need to actally put in for time off. But It makes no difference to me where we go.

                              Fox..

Talked to the voice of the Wild Ones last nite. He'll do some calling around to get their input. But in conversations the leading candidates seem to be:

2/8-10: only 1 week after some will need time off for National Mtg & overlaps Pearson's scheduled trip.

2/15-17: Daytona weekend and might be hard for some to leave the 14th.

2/22-24: last resort as it is later than normal and Fox's will be tied up.

                              East side: Strongs/Brimley combo

                              Traditional: same ol' Grand Marais

                              West: Munising

Keep the feedback coming. Would we really lose anyone if it were Daytona weekend?
