Being in Socal, and in the landscape industry, the crap about these guys comming here to work is absurd. They live in canyons and stand on street corners all over my area, taking jobs that my company pays legal employees that in turn pay taxes to do. Construction jobs, such as masonry and concrete finishing, brick paving and so fourth are high paying, very desirable jobs, over the strawberry tomato picking migrants. They all start with strawberries. Then they go where they can make more money. Homeowners, discusted with high priced homes, will take them to landscape their homes, and by the way, these guys will do anything from brick laying to dental work for $10.00 an hour...Gee, how does the arguement that they are paid under minimum wage apply here???

English from the kids on the streets of Chicago. Never took a dime she did not earn, ascimilated into the community as all immigrants should do. And there was no anchor baby that we paid for the birth of to give them a boost

Don't know the heritage of some folks that post on this subject , but i have legal alien members in my family. My dauhter in laws last name is Alzaga!!!
Point being i pretty much think LEGAL is a key word here.

I really think in order to vote one should at least be able to speak and understand some ENGLISH, and not as a 2nd language.

'Nother point i took some one to hospital for some tests and found they have as many receptionists as translaters as ones that aren't.

I'm here at what is left of the Blue oval this morning and got a real chuckle out of the Dearborn comment. On the whole I fail to see the need for any debate on imigration - you either entered the country through the laws governing imigration or you didn't... end of discussion.

Legal should be the word!

As Richard KC said above,the key word is legal. I have nothing against immigrants if they come in through the front door. Like most here, my ancestors came to this country from somewhere else. The thing that troubles me so much is that if I/we do something illegal we have a price to pay. Usually a not to pleasant consequence. Now the illegals slip in over our borders and get welfare and free medical care, and pay little or no taxes and God forbid that someone violates their rights. Is it just me, or is something wrong with this picture?

It goes far beyond that. In California, illegal aliens drive our freeways with Tijuana license plates in cars that are not safe. In trucks, there are worse because they are not subject to the same safety laws we are. And, whenever the police find an illegal in violation, they are let go because it is pretty common knowledge that they won't pay any fines, because they don't have the money to pay them. So, the attitude is why bother, lets just ticket those who are legal and vested because that way at least we can collect the fine money. The Police don't communicate with Boarder Patrol, so when they are caught, they are let loose. In many parts of northern California, local building departments won't allow places like Home Depot ( I never buy a thing from them anyway) to pass the planning stage without designing a facility for day laborers to stand, and the facility has to have handicap access with full running water and toilets. Beyond that, other cities install handicap access portapotties at places where day laborers conglamorate, and at night when it's cold the illegals enter the can and lock the doors to sleep on the floor...So, anyone who has to take a dump, just hangs behind the bathroom and there have been places where 4" of crap and toilet paper piled up to the point where it stinks so bad no one will use the sidewalks on that side of the street.

Me and my foreman get asked at least 4 times a day from canyon dwellers near our job sites if we will hire them....Sure, bring me the papers and we'll talk...The reply, I don't need papers and i only charge $10.00 an hour....

As I said before illegals, GTFO, now!

In my first post, I was the first to bring up the point, LEGAL.

I just knew the first reply from KT wasn't her! It didn't sound like a 14(?) year old.

The problem is too many businesses hire illegals.
The fine must be much harsher for those that hire illegals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
