    Hello everyone.
This is MaryEllen. We have Amanda home in Brutus right now. She is a very lucky girl. She fractured the 3rd lumber vertebrate. It does not effect her nerves and spinal column. She has to lie in a 20 degree angle or on her back for the next 3 weeks. She has a brace and she can get up for 10-20 minutes with it on. If things go well and she follows directions, her CT scan on December 6th should show progress. If that looks good then she can resume activities with her brace on. She will be wearing that for 12 weeks. Also. the instructors at NMU were great and she can finish the semester. The doctor (from Boston) told us that if the break heals she can even race next summer, BUT, if the vertrbrate compresses then she will require surgury and live with chronic back pain the rest of her life. So please pray for her that all goes well.
Thank you all for your concern and prayers.
    Love you all.
    MaryEllen

      Snowmobiling?

So I guess she won't be snowmobiling this winter. I was looking forward to her joining us. Hope all goes well in the healing process. If she won't lie still you can always Duck Tape her down? Take care. Spud

                  Mandy:

                  Get well soon.

BTW: What the hell were you doing on the roof? Not as glamorous as crashing your racing boat. But, tough girl that you are, you'll be fine, I'm sure. Ed.

                    Hang in there

                    Hi Hagerl Family,
What a way to start the holiday season.. Glad her injuries weren't as severe as they could have been. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Amanda we'll keep our fingers crossed that you make a quick and full recovery, hopefully without having to have the surgery.

                        A Speedy Recovery

                        Mandy,

L3 is the same vertibrae that Jeff broke at Dayton a few years ago. If someone his age can heal and race again, someone of your young age should be miles ahead of him! So rest well and do what the doctor says....boring as it may be.

                        All the best,

                        Mary & Jeff

Mandy had a CT scan on Wednesday and everything came back ok! She is able to sit up and drive her car some. She has another CT in February, I believe. She still has a long recovery ahead of her, but I know we are all happy of the progress she has made so far. I'm glad your doing better, Mandy. I love you!!
