Fortunately, my house which is for sale has NO basement. Yeah, crawl space is wet, but no carpets and furniture floating around in a basement like many of my nieghbors.
Good news! The IRS, Justice Department, and EPA buildings flooded out and are closed!
Bad news: Don't even think about renting or buying a water pump or wet/dry vac - ain't none to be had = empty shelves.
Pumps are still running for those unlucky enough to have basement, and *KABOOMER* a nasty thunderstorm rips thru town this evening. 2" of rain in less than an hour. Hail! And wind gust topping 60 MPH. Hmm . . . high winds, ground soaked from all that rain . . . yep. *CRUNCH* Trees toppling all over my `hood. I escaped tree fall, but across the street every single house lost a big `un. One caddy buried. Power lines ripped down. On the upside, the `hood will have plenty of firewood available this winter.
