Thanks for the heads up, but the truth is these internet scams cover just about anything you can buy and sell not just boats. These type of scams will never go away. Boats, cars, cameras you name it. Sad part is these scams were around long before the internet. Everyone has heard about the phone scams from almost 20 years ago that would target elderly people telling them to send in there life savings.

Below is a buying scam someone tried on me last year when I was selling an air conditioner. They sent me a fake confirmation via email which looked like it came from western union. When I checked with western union to verify the funds, we discovered it was a scam.

      Original Email:
i want to know if this item is currently available and if so please get back to me .with the price and your full name and address, phone number and price excluding the shipping cost of the item for me to carry out payment via western union money order through bidpay confirmation and notification will be send to you via email"first class" ("i will handle the shipping with my fedex as soon as you recieve confirmation(approval) of the payment) thanks

        Scammed

Being one of the stupid ones who actually got scammed, I can honestly say if it happens, you will never see any justice done. You are out the cash.

I had similar emails since, I even called the police once to try and set up a sticng on the SOB. I talked several times to the detective, but in the end, the police simply dropped the ball. So it is up to you guys to keep your cash.

One thing to remember, if you ever receive a cashiers check, simply wiat to see it clears your bank before sending anything. Some banks will call for you as you wait to see if the checks institution is valid, and the check is not a fraud.

          Scam

Cashier checks are not cash as most assume. Most bank hold them ten days because of these counterfeit cashier checks. Believe me I've been there and sweated for ten days. Lucky for myself it was good. I rather accept a personal check because it can be checked a lot faster.
