      Donation in lieu of Flowers

For those that would like to help the Hooten's have asked that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Cystic Fibrosis in the Hooten name. Here are some links to help you out. Thank you all for your prayers and support shown to the Hootens during this time. It is greatly appreciated. I have talked to Paul daily and he also expresses his deepest thanks to all. Again Thank you.

      Financial Assistance

Don't forget to include these foundations/organizations with any of your CF fundraising for the year. Remember they run off of donations from the community and that is how they are able to provide financial assistance. Even if you can't directly give back, spread the word to family and friends!

      www.milanfoundation.org
Provides financial assistance directly to families where CF has caused a financial hardship. Assistance with rent, electricity/water bills, food, car repairs and a variety bsp of other causes are available.

      www.esiason.org
Provides financial assistance directly to families for a variety of items, most recently for scholarships.

      www.lungsforlife.org
Provides financial assistance up to $500 for families of a Lung Transplant recipient or families of a CFer who have a financial hardship. This particular foundation requires that the request for assistance MUST come from a case/social worker.

      www.rosstore.com
Provides free or low-cost Ensure brand nutritional drinks to families who "income" qualify.

      www.dhs.ca.gov
In California only! The number for a Genetically Handicapped Persons Program application is 1-800-639-0597. GHPP provides "insurance" coverage for people with CF who are over the age of 21 and reside in California. You CAN have a primary (even private) insurance carrier and GHPP will pick up anything that is not covered under your primary insurance. There is a sliding scale of payment that you MIGHT have to pay, based on your income minus you medical deductions (remember to UTILIZE those CF FOOD related deductions!
