  • East Coast Bracing for overnight blizzard

After an accident closed an Indiana interstate, stranded travelers built a snowman in the median

A developing nor'easter headed up the East Coast today with a threat of up to 15 inches of snow. Snow began falling this afternoon in eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey, slowing traffic and putting road crews into action. More than 100 flights had been canceled by the afternoon at New Jersey's Newark Liberty International Airport. Several carriers had already canceled most or all of their departing flights Sunday

    Snow, what is that

    Hello Dan,

Moved to the desert as we don't have to shovel sunshine. We haven't
even seen any rain in over 110 days. Do miss living where water was
close by along with the kneel downs out on the lakes and bays. Sure
miss attending the races and even more racing myself after 36 years
in retirement. My last race in stocks was 1970. Miss it, miss it.

Thanks for keeping the web site going.

      Snow?

The shrieking weatherheads sezs we're gonna get 8"-10" here in Northern Virginia. Starting early on Saturday. Saturday is almost done and there ain't enough snow in my driveway to think about breaking out the shovel. Now the weatherheads say we're gonna get it betwixt midnight and Sunday morning! I stepped outside a few minutes ago - nada. If we don't get the BIG snow there's gonna be a lotta honked off folks with a pantry fulla bread, milk, and toilet paper `cause on Friday they were cleaning out the food stores.

                    heat wave

We are having a heat wave here in west central florida. The high today was 47 degrees. We spent the first night in our new house last night and realized at 5:30 AM that the contractors need to fix the heat/AC system. 42 degrees indoors. We are expecting 20 degrees temps at night for two days.

                    A real tropical heat wave!

Sam: I have TWO snow shovels!

And used them both to divest my driveway of 10" of that white stuff. And we lost power at 2 am and didn't get the juice turned on until around 6:30 pm today. Now I'm outta firewood, our only heat source today. And my garage is fairly clean seeing as how I attacked the scrap wood pile for extra wood.

                        storm survival hint:

So you're ready for the Big One, got a portable radio with fresh batterys. Yep. So lacking electric power I fetched the radio and . . . okay, need to find a decent weather/news station. That took freaking forever. So my suggestion is to mark your emergency radio with station locations of a no BS all news station and a couple local stations known for keeping the audience in touch with weather and travel conditions.

                          Shades of '66

How was this one compared to 1966? I was in Alex. that time trying to shovel snow , 3' out of parking lot as wife went into labor.
Finally gave up and met ambulance at road, spent the nite at hospital, at least the Dr. cooked us breakfast next morn. Cherry blossom time was much better that yr. LOL

                            `66 was a good `un . . .

but I was in the NC mountains finishing up my Sr year at college and missed it! Unless your talking the one in the latter part of the year, then I was on the Eastern Shore of Maryland teaching school when we got buried in flakes.
