Only 70? I'm 70, and thought he must be older than me. He must have started very young. I have, somewhere, a copy of Boat Sport from 1957 with a photo of Johnny Schubert out front in A Stock Hydro . . .

John was 78 yesterday, Smitty. Bill Hoctor's comment, as an old NJ cohort, was just messing with John.

John's younger brother, Dave, was on the cover of a Boat Sport issue driving an AU in the 1955-'57 era.

And John's dad drove D-Class in the 1950s with a pre-55H Merc 40 cubic incher . . . don't know whether it was a KF-9, KG-9, or Mark 40. Maybe he had all three at one time or another.
