  • Curious about the reputation meter

Just happened to notice the reputation "meter" below everyone's user name and I was wondering what that was indicating. I have 2 orange bars on mine. Are orange bars good or bad? What causes a user to gain more orange bars, lose some, etc, are there other colors? How do I get green bars?

Being the analytic person that I am I tried to figure this out on my own and figured it was probably just based on the number of posts, but could not establish any trend:

    Me: 2 orange bars - 112 posts

    Matt Dagostino: 0 bars - 1991 posts ???
    Howie Nichols: 0 bars - 1261 posts
    csh2Z: 6 bars - 1347 posts

ram95: 4 orange bars - 698 posts--- Oh no! orange bars must be bad! here's a guy that identifies himself as "the mad russian" ;-) j/k Alex
HRTV: 6 orange bars - 4791 posts --- Dan seems like a great guy and is certainly a valuable contributor - maybe orange bars are good

    --- Just curious

All the bars are orange...they used to be green, it's just a different colour now.
These days they accumulate based on "Likes" given. The more likes given = the more orange bars.
"Likes" in vB5 are basically just like giving reputation in the old software, except without the comment box. So, just like before, some "Likes" count for more than others depending on who gives them.
