Thanks for the work you have done getting the new site up! We really appreciate it and realize this is a work in progress.

I would move the Google ad sense banner from directly above the site logo banner and consider scaling it down and placing it elsewhere. As its stands it is the first thing people see when entering the site and it directs your attention directly to it. I'm sure there are lots of guys here who need a discount coupon for Viagra and a discount coupon for Tide :-) just saying think about a different placement spot.

Dan what have you been searching? rofl. I haven't seen any of that just hosting solutions and office supplies. Guess we know who's mind has been where.

At this point google ads are not finished. In fact many keep disappearing. We will get them all dialed in just going to take a while.

Hello I'm Mark from vBulletin Support.

I'm here to help get the new version working as best we can to your liking.

There are still some bugs in the software, and as I'm not a programmer I can't fix everything, but many things I *can* change.

I'm working through stuff and it'll take a week or so to get everything how everyone likes it.

If you have any questions/issues, please let me know via this thread, if I can do anything I will, if not I'll give you a straight answer.

Also looks like you have taken away the comment section in post which is pretty neat to have. Maybe a known bug but there is no reply function in private messages.

Comments seem to be here for me. This morning when you and I were private messaging I simply clicked on your name in the message where I was reading what you had written and it did a reply. But I agree a "reply" button would be good for us old folk.

          Comments should still be there.

Private Messages - there's no reply button as such, they are threaded now, so you just reply in the box at the bottom.

html is a big security risk so is disabled by default.

I am the original site owner and I'm fully aware of that also been employed in the IT field for the last 20 years :-) that said not having this enabled prohibits the embedding of YouTube clips Twitter post and Facebook. the site had html enabled for years and it never open the door for a risk. Not allowing this will only drive users to others forums. FYI it was enabled.

The current site owners will have to weigh the risk vs benefits.

I would allow it in the most popular sections like it was. The current owners made it available in the General Hydroplane Discussion area. This is a very visual sport, members like to watch YouTube clips and also have the ability to view live embedded streams from USTREAM etc. Its there call.

enabled but I like the video widget in editing as well. Mike found it real easy to use.

Obviously it's their decision, it gets disabled by default in vB5 but can still be enabled if required just as always.

At vBulletin we have always STRONGLY advised against it but it is ultimately down to the site owners and if they need it enabling I can do so.

Youtube incidentally can be embedded in this version without html, I take the point about streams though.

Be very careful on the banner advertisement! It looks like you have a new private message, but it's an ad.

InboxAce is a browser hijacker, which is promoted via other free downloads, and once installed it will add the InboxAce Toolbar, and change your browser homepage and default search engine to MyWebSearch will display advertisements and sponsored links in your search results, and may collect search terms from your search queries. The InboxAce Toolbar infection is used to boost advertising revenue, as in the use of blackhat SEO, to inflate a site’s page ranking in search results. The InboxAce Toolbar it’s technically not a virus, but it does exhibit plenty of malicious traits, such as rootkit capabilities to hook deep into the operating system, browser hijacking, and in general just interfering with the user experience. The industry generally refers to it as a “PUP,” or potentially unwanted program.

next time I see it I will try to snag the URL and block it. Right now that isn't the ad visible to me.

I believe that I have removed this particular ad from the site. Thanks for the heads up. It is sometimes tough to moderate them as everyone sees different ones. I can however if I see them, ban them from showing up. Unfortunately the ads are a necessary evil as donations alone do not fund the expense of the site.
