It should float. There was a company that sold plans for a very similar looking boat called a "Waterbug" in the '60s / '70s. My Dad built several of them. The "pontoons" on the side weren't nearly as tall on the boats he built as on the boat in the picture and his boats would float a 2 cylinder Merc and a 170 - 180lbs driver. I remember his boats as being a little longer than the one pictured and I know the motor board was inset some. I drove one of those things in about '80 - '81. It was interesting....
