I brought my Darling Granddaughter to the Wilson, NC race while she was living with us. She was "good" Taylor at that race, worked at the judges stand, and many of the racers there commented on how nice she was. She was = "good" Taylor. But most of the time she was "bad" Taylor and tested me'n Milady's patience to bitter end, or as they say in south she got on our last nerve. Convinced I had failed to set her on course for a meaningful future I shipped back to New Jersey.
Flash forward to today: There was ceremony today more than 900 miles from me, and one I was not able to attend, but when my son sent me word it was over I felt at peace, as if all the frustration I had experienced with this child had evaporated. The ceremony: Graduation from USN boot Camp, Great Lakes, IL. Taylor has found her focus - she liked boot camp, loves the Navy, and she will be shipping out for Charleston, SC for about 1 1/2 years of training - nuclear engineering.
