Now it's not fair that you guys are generalizing about Texas this and Texas that.
Not ALL of Texas is crowded, or crime filled, or etc, etc...

I live in Illinois. And just because we have Chicago, doesn't mean the whole state is corrupt! Oh wait, it is.

No state income tax in Texas. Tha's why there is a flood of investment banker types moving out of new york and other east coast locales to Texas. Puts about .15 of every dollar back in your pocket. BTW, My favorite cousin is a real estate agent in Dallas and she would be awesome to work with, (plus she is extremely good looking). I think she mostly does high end stuff, but PM me and I'll get you contact info. Bryan

        Dallas is OK

My sis lives just North and outside of Dallas, nice area, growing and new. Looks like a nice place to live.

If anyone has any insight into the DFW area, or any insight into good ways to do some homework on a future move, please let me know.

            Mike,

I live in Arlington, home of the Texas Rangers who cannot win a World Series and the Dallas Cowgirls who cannot win a playoff game. I would be happy to suggest some options. The most important is your location of employment. I would hate to suggest a location that would create massive drive time because of the traffic we tend to face at rush hours. PM me if you would like more info.

              Bill,
It's the same as my current job, just a change of bases. I've been employed by ExpressJet Airlines flying CRJ-200's (50 seat jet) since April, and have been based in Washington Dulles since June. The opportunity came up to bid to a new base that we're opening in Dallas, and I bid there because I'll have a better work schedule. No more reserve!!!

Thanks for the help everyone and advice everyone!

P.S. Dingman - When I was in Dallas for training at American Eagle Airlines a little over a year ago I think a few of my classmates went to Ricks. I think I missed the invite that evening for one reason or another.

Oh, by the way, the temps here in DFW will be in the high sixties for the next couple of weeks. We are having a club test and tune at the lake this Saturday. I'm bringing sunscreen.

Hope you all can figure out a way to get that epoxy to kick!

                        Texas Weather

Since it is over 700 miles across Texas east to west and over 850 miles north to south, it is hard to make any generalizations about Texas weather. Here in DFW we are about 320 miles from the coast so no hurricane impact here.

As far as tornados go, yeah we have 'em from time to time but no big deal. They do make the water a bit rough so we just get the big boats off the trailer and keep racin'. Biggest problem is we get false gps readings downwind.
