“Nothing behind you matters.” That simple racing mantra appeared on a Tiger Racing hydro for years. Sad to say, however, the long-time patriarch of the team, David Robertson, died Friday, November 23. For those of us lucky enough to know Dave, he always mattered a lot. He will be missed.
In many ways, Dave was a quintessential boat racer: Tough to beat on the course, friendly and sharing in the pits. He began racing (we think) in the mid-70s and brought along the whole family. Sons Mike and James also drive and now a third generation, Justin and Wayne, also are following in their grandfather’s footsteps. (In the photo, Dave and James share wrenching time.)
Visitation is Wednesday, November 28, from 4–8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon, Indiana 46052; the funeral is Thursday, November 29 at 10:30 a.m.
