  • I won't make it to Tabor City, and I have a plea . . .

HPV is a sneaky infection often not detected and can lead to cervical cancer. In 2006 a vaccine was released to prevent HPV infections, but it wasn't available when my niece was young. Now, at age 44, she is dying of cervical cancer. She fought hard this past year, but after two emergency surgeries in as many weeks and yet another organ failure her fight is over. She is now a few weak heartbeats away from death - cancer won.

But cancer doesn't have to win.

This is my plea - If you have daughters please consider the HPV vaccine series for them. It could save their life . . .

      Vaccine

I am fortunate enough to be a cancer survivor, and married to an excellent OB/GYN who just informed that this vaccine is also available for boys. My son just started getting his, and my daughter will when she gets older.

I am glad we can come together as a community to promote something this serious!

When it comes to boat racing and the wife, it's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is permission, and of course I spent a number of nights sleeping on the couch!

        We're so sorry

        Bill and Linda,
Dave and I send you our warmest thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Thank you for reminding us all that there are vaccines to protect women from this terrible disease. The technology is there; we should take advantage of it.
