  • filling in the gap between racing season and tax season

    happy new year all,

i'm getting ready to go into my tax cave in a few weeks so i've been filling in the gap between racing season and tax season watching great tv shows like swamp people(my daughters a fan too and got 'choot em' t shirt for christmas) and moonshiners. last nights moonshiners show said that popcorn sutton's white whiskey(legal moonshine) was being sold. has anyone bought any? is it any good? wondering if it's for sale outside of tenn.

popcorn sutton kinda looked like george stillwell with a zz top beard. love ya george

Dont think I could grow that much hair at this point. My ex father in law used to make moon shine all the time, always had a couple Mason Jars full of the stuff.

Glad to see I'm not the only fan of the show. There is a moonshiner marathon on this weekend. I am going to try to get a jar of popcorns legal stuff for next season. It comes in,a mason jar.

Even a Yankee city boy like myself loves the show. What a slice of Americana . I ran a cable out to my man cave last weekend as I was doing some bottom repairs. Life is good, 70 degrees in the garage in early Jan, the smell of West System, and Moonshiners playing in the background.

a stogie in each hand is because if you drink too much shine it affects memory and that way you don't have to remember what hand you have your smoke in. seems to work well

Here in Marion/Lake james, NC, Moonshine is a way of life.......Up 226A near Spuce Pine on the Blue Ridge Parkway there is a o'l motel built in 1948 (?). Legend has it the owner had a still in a room behind a false wall behind the kitchen.....supposidly a recent owner found the still and it now resides in the Smithsonian?
In the lobby is pics of a governor at the time having diner there......Old Esso staion accross the road still stands and was supposed to be a stach house for the shine.
I have a jar in in my motor shed, beer fridge that was given to me by a neighbor here in da "Trailerhood".....sip on it while werk'n on my 20H A-MODS........Has a very strong corn taste/flavor.........not sure if it's quality stuff?

Robert Mitchum did a movie in this area 195(?) about Bootleg'n........name?
