Transom cuts for 102 and 302 engines

With the first test ride nearing, I'm beginning to look more seriously at C class boats people have for sale.
I note that some folks mention that the transom is cut for either a 102 or a 302 Yamato.
I take this to mean that the two motors have different length lower units. On the advice of folks already involved in the sport, I plan to use a 302 engine, if the one I am eyeing doesn't sell before I can make my decision.
What is the difference in the transom cut outs for the respective engines?
If a boat is cut to low for the chosen engine, is it a big deal to make a filler block, or do you have to put in a whole new transom?

If you are going with a 302 you are all set. Because the 102 is higher, so even if the boat you grab is cut for a 102, its very simple to shave an off an inch or so to fit the 302.

And if you end up with a 102 and a bot cut for a 302, by chance. You can just make a spacer to get it up high enough, or build the transom height up a bit.

Transom plates

John Korbus sells aluminum transom plates which make it very easy to switch from Y302 to Y80/Y102 height.

The plates bolt through the transom and can be changed within a few minutes.

The back of my Jerry Davis C runabout. the solid transom is VERY short so it can be run in c-mod easily. Then it has a Thick board sort of with 8 bolts holding it on that can be set or a 102 or 302. I might be able to grab a pic at some time.
