    Damage

Forgot something....the damage estimate for the quake we had was in the neighborhood of 2 billion dollars.....something like that...it also pretty much destroyed the control tower for Sea Tac International airport...and ruined the runway at Boeing field.

The aftershocks can be very unnerving.

        Aftershocks

It was strange....I don't think we had any aftershocks after our big quake....the really unerving thing is that the Seattle area is supposed to have a very very large quake at some point.....and we are something like 50 years overdue for it.........David

The one that is long overdue is the Hayward Fault. Goes under the Cal Berkley football stadium. When it goes it is going to be real bad, very bad.

Im about 50 miles from where the center was and was in the shop, big tool box started shaking first which didnt concern me, but when the concrete floor started to move and the walls started swaying I thought now this is something different but nothing broke so all is well.

                  "had just let something fly"

Those poor, poor people. I will say a prayer for them.

                    Epicenter

For fun, I heard the epicenter was located at cemetary in Virginia. It was not caused by tectonic plate movement, but rather all the founding fathers rolling over in their grave at the same time!

                      Felt It

It shook our building here in MI. I have never felt one before, so it was weird, and I have to say, somewhat scary. Give me an out of control DMH or FEH anyday.

What are you doing up this late? Shouldn't you be in bed? Don't you have a job?

I was at work - didn't notice the quake = slight quiver here, but certain folks in airport admin went into full freaky-deaky ditherhead mode! Had me call NWS to check a "report" of a Tsunami headed for Carteret County. NWS guy almost fell outta chair laughing.
