  • Roy Blackwell passes

It is with heavy heart that I must report that my dad, Roy Blackwell, passed away early this morning. As some of you may have known, he had battled Kidney cancer for the last 1.5 years. He loved racing and loved the social side just as much. Those of you that knew him, know the kind of character he brought. He left some big kevlar to fill. We are all going to miss him.

If there is a memorial service, I will pass that on.

        Terrible loss

Roy was one of the classiest people I ever met in boat racing. He was a terrific competitor, worked tirelesly for his local clubs and APBA and was the prototype for what we now call a Risk Manager. Aside from that, he raised a great family with children he and Henriette can be very proud of.

One of the best people in racing, and he cannot possibly be replaced. We will all miss you so much....

            Sad News

Roy will be deeply missed. He was a class act on and off the course and I have very much missed our 20SSH battles over these past years and the conversations we have had about racing, and life. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you!

                    Great Competitor

I had the opportunity to race against Roy in C for many years. He always ran hard and taught me a few lessons on the course. Great guy, great family and the racing community will miss him.

I will always remember Roy's smile when he came up to race with us many years ago in Sutherlin, Oregon. Every time I saw him it was always there. He is a great loss to our racing community. Out thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
