    Great to Hear From You!

    Bill,

Glad to hear you are on the mend and doing better. Even if you aren't racing, maybe your snow-birding circuit will include some race dates so we can see you once in a while down south!

Are you kidding?????????? He will say excuse me, go to a remote part of the pits, and build a boat so the class is full. You underestimate Mr. Giles..........

              Bill Giles---------

YEA! Pit manager, Race promoter, Boat Builder, Regional chairman, Club President and oh yea a super BOAT RACER. BILL, you have done it all for long enough. I'll be proud to attend your retirement party! When my body and my partner talks to me as yours has I know it will be time to retire and I will be proud to have you at my retirement party.

My only regret is I didn't know you 40 or so years ago when I could have raced in one of your classes and tried to beat your a##!

              See you in Sept.,
              Bruce

What yous don't know is... back a few days before the Standish race Giles had indicated he'd run my O'Connor rent-a-D (12A the Mad Russian) if I didn't have someone lined up for it. About the same time Steve Noury had called and said he wouldn't mind running the thing. So I quietly flipped a coin back home in the 'tunnel-of-repair' and Noury won it.

So, now I'm stuck with the guilt of wondering if I had let the Ancient Mariner drive it, if he would have avoided the trip to the butcher-shop. I mean, driving that O'Connor D boat is like driving a freaking Cadilac (to quote Bob O'Connor hissef). And that has certainly to be true compared to hammering a CSH... even a Giles CSH!! And, of course "the Mad Russian" has that POWER STEERING as an added benefit for the "Classic" driver.

And now, Brenda has signed a deal with one of Whitey Bulgers pinch-hitters to take out the very next person who offers "Brother Giles" a boat ride..... well, he won't be getting the kill-switch lanyard for 12A anytime soon.

                Sorry - Alex

                  You gotta be kidding........

In the "you are not going to believe this one department", Bill was back in the hospital today to have kidney stones remove. Have not had an update yet but retirement does not seem to be treating Mr. Giles kindly.
