The firm I have been working for for the last 13 years is looking for a couple of qualified model makers to assemble wind tunnel models for our rolling road wind tunnel. Most of our car models are in the 40% to 50% size range making them around 6 to 10 feet long. Ideally the person can do machining, metal fabrication, composite work as well as welding. We will train in areas that are lacking.
The biggest problem that we have seen is that with the continued gutting of shop programs in schools, we are simply not getting very many people exposed to varied hands on skills. I thought that maybe from the boatracing group, somone or someone you know might fit our needs. I have met countless people over the last 17 years who are very handy.
