  • Pat Martin Will Be Missed

Patrick Martin one of the original members of the Stateline Outboard Racing Association passed away last Friday unexpectedly.

Pat Martin will be remembered by me for his love of the sport of stock outboard racing and the support that he gave to his son Kevin last year at our races.

I had the pleasure to get to know Pat over some early morning cups of coffee (I fixed) and some afternoon tailgate cooked hot dogs (he fixed) at our races last year. We had some great times and I will miss his wonderful smile.

He is survived by his son Kevin, and daughters Kim and Anjie and their families.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday March 19th, 2011 at 11:00am.
Directions can be found at the following web address http://www.heritagefunerals.com/index.cfm

Godspeed to you Pat, race safely and see you in the first turn!

For those who didnt know, my father was an old school racer, from yester year. From the days of going to races with the hydros strapped to the top of the station wagons, **** i thought that was the sh$%@!!!!He first put me in a boat when i was 12 ,which promted me to put my son in a boat when he was 10.
He could sure bang a prop, loved telling him, hey we have 20 minutes between flights, run up grab your hammer, and your rock and go get me a little more coming off the turn. Barry and i would be amazed that the prop would do exactly what we asked him to do!!! Hope i paid close enough attention, it's on me know. He was going to run 20hydro this year, first time in a boat since '79 or so, boy was i looking forward to pulling his rope!!

In that top photo far right, i will never forget that "hi five" with him, he was so proud of his boy!

Here's to you "trick" (patrick)as my grandmother called him, i will pull your rope in another world. Kev

It was a lot of fun watching your dad work the props and then the two Kevins would trade props after every heat and see who could beat the other at Ione. He helped everyone. I bet Brian will never forget the opps when the start rope fell of Pats shoulder while warming up the motor and one prop was junk. Your dad felt so bad about that.

We had a great time at Trout Creek. Everyone was gone Saturday night to party and the wind came up and we were chasing down pop-ups that were blowing away. Next morning he went to get the corner boat that had broke loose over night and was sitting in the middle of the coarse all by itself. We ate hot dogs with him in the evening on the tailgate of his truck. He was such a joy to be at a boat race with and will be terrible missed.
