  • Push-boat plans

Who has the fastest plans? Who holds the record?

I have a 4 year old that wants one for his birthday. I have 3 weeks to jig it, build it and paint it.

Not sure what you are asking, but if I am getting part of what you are asking, I have made for my daughters and a few other special kids a special "my first play boat" out oh mahogany. I have built both two and three layer ones. These work and look great. ( actually I know one of the boys that I gave it to, never got to play with it. His dad put it a a shelf to display it. this was done at everyplace they moved to while in the USCG. Also at their retirement home.)
First thing to do is to cut out a template of the outside shape that the boat is going to be. Then make the required number of cut outs need from wood. If I was doing a outboard race boat I would make it two. The bottom would be solid and the top one I would cut out the cockpit area, leaving the deck, narrow sides and transom intact. Glue these two layers onto each other, then when dry do what ever shaping to the edges and sides that you want to. Also to get the real sharp edges off of it. When satisfied, varnish or paint. Done this way they can take a lot of use and abuse and still keep on running. With my daughters I also added wheels axles that could be removed for water use if they wanted. The axles were brass tubing that went across the bottom of the boat and were nailed onto the bottom. Then I used wood craft wheels and the wood pins or axles that have a head on one end and put them through the wheels and slid them into the matching size brass tubes. I think that I held these in with epoxy.
    I hope that this helps.

      Brian,
Give me a call...my boys may trade you some push boat plans for a duck bail for their new boat :-)

The boats look cool, unfortunately, they can't compete with Gueedo.

Here's a couple different sets of plans. They are good designs. The PB03 is a 2003 design that's a bit smaller for the younger kids. The PBP07 is a 2007 design and works well. It got me a 2nd in the Masters Division finals last Summer at Lawerence! It's design is heavily influenced by John Peeters' winning design. BRB

I made a boat out of a pedal car, pedal Boat. Chris-Craft like, sounds like they are about the pedal car age?

              Brian,
Did you build the boat yet?

Let us know if you need one and if you will be at the National Meeting.
