  • Worlds Days Inn Motel $$$$

If you stayed at the Days Inn in Winter Haven for the World Championships and paid by credit card you may want to check your statement.
We were charged the night we reserved the room and charged again the day we checked out. We are still trying to get it resolved.
No hot water, no phone, dirty linens, and twice the price. You can't beat that with a stick!

Don't let the bed bugs bite!

There have been stories in the Florida news about bed bug infestations found in some motels in FL, especially in tourist destinations like the Orlando area. First thing I would do is check my suitcases, clothing, your bedding and mattresses at home to make sure you didn't take home any small critters you don't want to share space with.

Better to be safe than sorry.

    Regards,

    Paul

We had the same problem 2008 in the Clairon Inn Winterhaven. The Cremonas and the hungarian team were lucky enough to find it out while there still there because they always get an instantly message at their telephones when their creditcard was debited. My mum wasn`t that lucky. She found out when the creditcard-bill came two weeks later and we needed five (!) months to get the money back. I tried to call the hotel-manager many many times but he was never "at his desk" or always "out of office" and never called back. Our bank tried to call them with the same result and in the end it had to be handeld by VISA itself.
That left a pretty bad smell for us and for sure we will never be guests of that house again.
Maybe the organizers should keep that in mind when they choose the official racing hotel for the next WORLDS. :-)

        Wenke,
Ain gonna be no proh-blee-m when we have the Worlds up here in Richmond Maine across from Swan Island. You and your Mum can stay with us right here on the banks of the Kennebec River at the Richmond Aero Marine "race scorer" suite (normally reserved for the Gov'ner). And, don't chu worry... we don't allow no bed bugs, dead bugs, CIA bugs, or hidden U-tube cameras - down here at the 'tunnel of repair, we sweep the place daily. What happens at RAM95 hq stays at RAM95 hq, including test-cell results.

Don't even mess with incorrect billing yourself.
Call the card company right away, and they will immediately remove the charge from your bill, then start an investigation.

They will ask you for a statement, then they will ask the other party to respond. They give them a month or so.

I have had to do this several times, and never lost an investigation. In fact most of the time, the offending party never responds, and in that case, you win... and the charge is taken off your account.

Credit card companys are very good at finding these errors.

I wish it would have been that easy. We called the card company and in the end WE had to proof that we didn`t gave permission to take off the amount from our card twice. So it needed 5 month until all "evidence" were checked and we got the money back. It would have been much easier if the hotel (after checking their bank account and seeing that there were a bill payed twice and the client already called ten times) just transfered the money back. I´m working as an accountant and when I see that a client payed twice or too much then I transfer the money back so my account is nice and clear and my client is happy and do further business with us.
But well it`s an old story ... but if we talk about the same hotel then it`s interesting that they still play that game ... I bet many tourists that use their credit cards a lot don`t even notice that they pay twice ... nice extra money for the hotel I guess. ;-)
best regards from good old Germany where everything has to be CORRECT! :-)
