2010 Top of Michigan Program

I was reading the 2010 Top of Michigan Program and saw this picture of Jerry Van Amber. My mind drifted back to August 1956, when I read at Eaton rapids, Michigan.

Seems I split heats with Jerry Van Amber and ended up second.


Funny, because we raced in Lansing, Michigan on Sunday and I ran 5th....25 years later I heard that some "A" guys were known to run KG-7 blocks when there wasn't inspection...

I still have the trophy for August, 1956.

Jerry Van Amber's Boat

That was my first race boat that I raced in 1958 at Top o with a KG4. Finished 24th out of around 60 A runabouts. I bought the boat from Van Amber.
