First I am an owner and not the driver. I am a voting member of APBA. with that said I own 2 Dm Runabouts and like to talk to other who race DSR class or have interest in doing so. The Problem I have is the weight for DSR why is it so heavy. If we run this class I will have to add between 85 to 105 pounds to be legal this is just nuts. With new design and material how do you get the weight to legal. If I made the frame out of 4x6 and the stringer out of 2x4 I am just venting I have a 44sx and a tohatsu ready to run DsR the only thing holding me back is the weight. Can this be changed and what do the rest of you DSR think about changing the weight to 480 or ???? With new constrution I will not add that much weight to any hydro or runabout what are you ideas. On the serious side, to compete at the highest level in a runabout class, DSR is the only option for anyone 225 lbs or more in Stock or Mod. CSR drivers fit into the 180-225 range.

We are running DMR in Cal in a week and bring the run back to spokane. There should be 3 or 4 for next year all Mods. I would like to see a DSR class in Region 10 again but the weight is killing me. The post before yours so I did a fast calulation 225# driver + 135# tohatsu = 360 need a 160# runabout. My new ones are a little over that together My question is why so heavy when the speed are not all that high and the new boat are made not even close to 160#. If I added that much or half that weight I would find it at the bottom of the lake boat and weight and kyle does not like to get wet something about getting his hair wet or messed I would like to try to get changed for the 2011 season if I can get some help. My reason is that I want to run National next year in DSR We will run DMR for sure. and I can Mod the 44sx in a heart beat the Tohatsu will run DSH. Just a though and why so heavy for s stock runabout class do not make any sence to me I just pay the bill and enjoy outboard racing dennis westby

I am will to put money on it it not 85 to 100 lbs. If my driver weight 265# and would not go through the botton of the boat and the motor is 135. I just need to add about 25-30 # of lead. I see this not going anywhere If you guys are DSr owners/drivers I wish you well just to much weight to add and be safe in my own mind but that just me. I know it is a big boys class I ran DSH a long time ago and enjoy the class today, real neat people and enjoy going to the races again,But I don"t understand why the weight got so heavey with boat getting liter and strong and the speed are still not all that fast. I would like to take to some runabout driver/owners dennis

I get it.....you have a superlight boat to take advantage of the no weight limit in Mods and now want to use it in DSR.
Here is what you do:
Write the proposal. Get your Commissioner to put it on the agenda. the SORC will likely make it a class vote and all the fat DSR drivers will vote on it. Keep in mind the DSR drivers will vote in their own best interest.
This is starting to sound really similar to the annual "lower the weight of CSR" discussion.....

So, you know where I'm going to go right after I finish my shrimp salad with lo-cal dressing and a couple of yo-play yo-gurts??? Yup.. I'm headed down to the 'Old Goat Pub' for a coupla tall cold ones... and gimme some uh them chips!!!
