I just got back from the post op with my surgeon who both did my gastric bypass on January and took out my gallbladder 2 weeks ago. He gave the "GO" for starting to train for my marathon in 176 days 14 hours and 39 minutes. He said to allow one week of walking before I start running but he will also let me hit elyptical machines this week too.
I just got back from my first walk but since I have not worked out since my surgery I will do as I am told and take it slow little by little. As my training schedule goes I add a couple miles a week until the "big" prepatory run about 1 month before the actual marathon. That week I will run a total of 40 miles with the big run being a 20 mile run I am planning on doing from Jamestown to Yorktown on the Colonial Parkway. All in all by the time I am ready for my marathon I will have run over 475 miles.
I am so stoked to be able to be free again!
