  • Just spent 3 days in the hospital from an absessed tooth

I thought i was checking out.Had a tooth ache and let it get way out of hand.My face was so swollen that my eye was swollen shut.I got very sick and never felt pain like that in my life. They were worried about the infection getting in my blood. They admitted me right away as these can be fatal if they get to far and i was close. After 3 days of heavy antibiotics and delatid witch is stronger than morphine and made me puke every time they put it in my iv i was discharged this morning.I was very scared.Kind of puts things in perspective.

Ouch glad to hear you are ok, that could have been very bad.
I know the feeling, I just didn't wait quite that long before getting it taken care of. Had reacuring abseses on two front teeth. finaly had them yanked.

      Bob,

Good to hear that you caught it in time, many cases like yours end up at the funeral home. Proper dental hygiene is essential to good heath. I am always shocked to hear about a person that lost their life due to a simple infected tooth.

While at recent visit to my dentist I was complaining to my doctor about the extensive work I was having done. Before I could finish complaining he gave me the analogy of how we make sure to change our oil every 3000 miles etc. but how so many folks neglect their heath.

      Glad you are ok now!

Holy smokes Bob, I am the same way I wait too long to take care of stuff that I'm sure will be unpleasant and before you know it WHAM! I'm in trouble with it. That looks painfull Bob. I only had one toothache a few years ago and I will never forget it... so painfull. Sorry Bob I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. The good news is when they pluck that kid out of there you will feel better almost instantly. When I got chewed to bits a few weeks ago they gave me morphine in the ambulance at the race site and it didn't touch the pain. All it did was made me not care as much about the pain. When they put me in the chopper the emts in there pumped some of that Delaudid, or Delaudit or what ever it is and I was a good boy. I kept calling in bin laden and the doctors and nurses got a kick out of that. they fed me that stuff along with 2 hydrocodones (v10 vikadins) every 4 hours for two weeks. The Delautid is 10 times as powerful than morphine. I hope you feel better very soon.
