    Bill and Dale Norfolk

Dale Norfolk is alive and well although Bill died of cancer years ago. If you can't locate Dale through normal means I can contact him on your behalf. He currently lives on the family farm in Owings.

Although I'm uncertain of their club membership when racing stock outboards, I'm sure Dale would have plenty of stories to share about Southern MD Boat Club members. As co-owners of Roostertail Marine, Bill and Dale supplied many a rig to SMBC members, back when you could get a stock OPC race boat from Checkmate and Sidewinder.

As an aside, does anyone know the real name of "Tiny" the former outboard mechanic at Roostertail Marine?

      Roostertail Marine

Old post I realize . Bill Norfolk was a great guy to me , In 1977 he sold me a 1500xs to run sport J .I never could get comfortable with that class , so I took the motor and put it on a stand in the garage where it sits today. The mechanic that work there was a great guy [ tiny , but not in size ] and I can't recall his name either but I belive it was John ??? I spoke with Beale Tilton [ E & T boats ] last night and he couldn't remember his name either.
Calvin , What was the guys name that ran a B utility in so. md . The boat name was ' Judy Miss'

        More Roostertail Marine

Tiny was the first mechanic I ever saw who used a stethoscope to diagnose an engine. There was a factory fresh Merc in-line 6 that wasn't reaching top end on a Baja speed boat. He only had to listen to it a short while with the stethoscope to understand some reeds had been sucked into the cylinders. I was 16 or 17 at the time and that made an impression on me.

One Roostertail Marine mechanic had the last name of Gibson but I don't remember his first name. Could his first name also be John?

A third Roostertail mechanic was there in the early years but departed. He showed up later as a motorcycle mechanic when Dale opened the Kawasaki dealership. I don't remember his name but he had dark brown hair and a handlebar moustache. Ring a bell?
