  • Jocelyn "Pee Wee" Belanger rest in peace

Our hearts are heavy today after learning of the loss of our friend this morning in an email from Andrew Fralick pasted below. I wish I could explain in words to those that didn't get to meet him what he was like. What a joy is has been for my wife and I to get to know him. We cryed at dinner this evening imagining how many more wonderful times we could have spent with him in the future and feel so honored to have enjoyed the time together.
I love you PeeWee and I can't wait to race with you again, Jeff

    Hello all,

It is sad news I bring you, 20SSH class racer Jocelyn Belanger #43,
better known as Peewee has passed away. His truck fell through the ice
while removing a fishing hut on the Ottawa River and took him with it.
More details by Dave Scott and talk are posted on the CBF forum.

    http://cbf.hyperboards.com/index.php...&topic_id=1204

He was a great character and seemed to really love the sport trying hard
to both make his outfit look good and do well on the water by driving
hard and learning the do's and don'ts. He and girl friend Carol made an
effort to attend all the CBF races they could.

It's very shocking news to me and I'm sure all of you. He'll be missed.
I know no other details at this time, so watch the CBF forum for more
    info.

    Race in Peace Peewee,

    Andrew

A man always with a smile. He made a great impression on all of us with his enthusiasm at his first race several years ago at Long Sault, Ontario. After waiting all day to race, he proceeded to blow over his 20SSH at the start/finish line. Although most would be disappointed, he still had that wide eyed grin while being towed to shore and we knew then that he was here to stay. Undaunted he continued to work and race hard and was befriended by all that he came in contact with.

He made the trip to the States this Fall for the Kingston, New Hampshire CanAM Challenge and made a lasting impression on the SSOA crew. I will always remember the group picture of Team Canada and PeeWee caught gazing at Miss Kingston with a twinkle in his eye!

Godspeed my friend and may you rest in peace.

      Race in Peace "Pee Wee"

Throughout life, we meet people who make a lasting impression. The first time I heard of Pee Wee was after my son (Skippy) returned from the Waterford race a couple of years ago. The following year I got to meet him in person. "Everyone calls me Pee Wee," he said. His warm handshake and nice comments regarding my son, showed me what a great guy he was. I made a new friend that day. He made a lasting impression on me. He's in good company now.
My deepest sympathy of this loss to his family, friends and the Canadian Boating Federation.

Sincerely, Rick Wagner Sr and family

We had only known Peewee for three years but felt as if he had been our friend for a lifetime. At the races there are familiar faces, friends and characters well he was one of the characters, the kind that if he wasn't there something was missing. He was always the first to jump in and help out and enjoyed it.He loved not only the racing but the whole package the people, the talk, the teasing, the stories. We are sure going to miss you buddy.

            God speed Peewee.

Wayne said it best. PeeWee embraced what the sport has supported over the years.
PeeWee was a great friend of mine and I hope he is racing with the other greats.
PeeWee made a lasting impression on all that met him and I hope the best for Carol and his family despite this tradgedy. I just hope that we embrace the spirit for the sport that he and Carol did.

                  RIP Pee Wee

I met him while @ Crystal Lake 2 yrs ago. While serving an extended patrol boat duty together, I learned alot about him in that short period of time. An avid outdoorsman & well traveled union electrician, his passing is very, very unfortunate.

See you on the other side my friend.

I also met Podium Peewee at Long Sualt. I remember that smile before the drivers meeting when I talked with him about his first race. When he blew over, all of us on the judges stand were making bets that this was it for his racing. After racing I went to the pits to check things out an he came to me with that same smile an said this is great. I asked if he would be coming to Crystal and he said I'm not sure if I can keep up with those guy's... Well Sat morn. at Crystal "who's blowing that horn and waving at me" when he was pulling into the pits. Hey thats the new racer Peewee from Canada. What a finish he produced on Sunday as he took the podium with a third place. Thats when he earned the name Podium Peewee with me. God speed brother and as Christine said see you on the other side of the rainbow with that smile and the checkered flag.

*Thanks Bubbles for the email and phone calls last night. Was good for the soul to talk about this. Please keep Lori and I updated on the services.

                      Rest in Peace my friend!!!

Peewee you will truly be missed. I remember at Waterford sat. night going through pictures of the day of racing and up on the screen came a picture of him completely prop riding with the bullet just above the water and the smile on his face was priceless. He will truly be missed by many and all who knew him. I will never forget pitting next to him and having many conversations with him. over that weekend. Race in Peace man.
