  • Recruiting lessons from Canada

First this is nothing against Canada it is just against these women who do not honor their sport and responsibility.

    all the pictures
How would you like your 18 year old playing for gold?

How many NHL teams have you seen do this? Should I think it is wrong?

It is unfortunate that this celebration made it out of the dressing room after all the spectators had left, and this has been officially appologized for by the team, but as a person that played a high level of hockey, and a Canadian you've got to understand the need to celebrate after such an important event in these girls lives.
The amount of training and dedication that goes into achieving what they did, or any athlete, takes so many years of dedication. A couple hours of celebration, in my opinion, is warranted.
Plus NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB, and apparently PGA players do similar things, just in the dressing room or other places of relative privacy.

The US snow boarder was asked to leave the games for letting a girl bit the metal around his waist in the streets hours after the event and not wearing team colors. I wonder if Canada will do the same for these ladies.

I was hoping for a "Brandi" style celebration myself!

The attached pic of the Canadian player is why they need to keep the media out of any celebration!

I loved that moment. To think that a sports bra is to sexy or exposes too much. That was the best thing to ever happened to women's soccer in America! How many men bought tickets in hopes of seeing a sports bra!!!LOLOLOL (Note no more women's pro league. No more shirtless celebrations. It makes you think.)

Brandi did the right thing, she took off the team colors before she made a fool of herself. And if the Canadian women had taken their uniforms off I guess some of those shot would have been less offensive to me. And the media would have spun this as they are comfortable with their bodies.Look at the US skier on the cover of SI last week.

I am not saying they were wrong... they just chose the wrong outfit to do it in.

Oh man, I can't believe this

Cmon Brian, pull the stick outa your rear end. These ladies worked their butts off most of their life for this moment. They're never going to win the Stanley Cup, never even going to get paid for doing this. This is as good as it's ever going to get for them, I say let them celebrate however they want. BESIDES, there's something sexy about a lady with a stogy, just ask Bill Clinton

I agree 100% - too much is beeing made out of this. Think about what we would do if we just won a gold medal? I doubt it would stop at a stogie and a beer. Heck, the celebration of our National Championship victory can be something that you hope there are no pictures of, afterward.

                    I second this!!
Let's be gracious, allow them their youthful sponteneiety.
Many media commentators have said this was an opportunistic photo, the post-game celebration on the ice was hours after the crowds had left.
Majority don't care whether they were wearing CDN uniform(CDNs don't), or the BS about Olympic 'values'(the whole Olympic bidding process is fraught w bribery).

                      No Problems here

I think they celebrated how they wanted to. Good for them. Lord knows we have smoked cigars and drank beer in our racing uniforms at the Nationals before..... In the pits even.....

I agree with whoever said it is to bad the media did not respect the Olympic games enough to not disgrace the whole thing. The media is the one who should be getting hammered over this. They usually screw things up as bad as politicians do sometimes. Kind of like when they aired the coach cussing at the skier.... the media should not have had a mic so close at the top of the hill..............

We shouldn't be too critical for two reasons. One, it was a youthful celebration where no one got hurt. Two, she could likely kick our butts.

Ok, it appears I was wrong. The next time I win a race I am going to run around in nothing but my thong. Then we can just say he just won a race it is just what the 33m does to celebrate!

Did I just kill this thread?

I think what they did was fine but I did not like they did it in team colors. I would hope Canadians are proud of their team, but not just say well they are young or you can do anything if you beat the Americans.

Herb Brooks: When you pull on that jersey, you represent yourself and your teammates. And the name on the front is a hell of alot more important than the one on the back! Get that through your head!

This morning the Canadian Parliament(Gov't) called for an emergency session debating whether to pull the CDN 'men' from men's hockey Semi's, and presumably the Finals, and put in our Gold Medal bovine beauties to Kick A-- again, for another gold medal.

Hey Brian,...you're not wrong, it's you're opinion and you're entitled; free speech!
Come race in Ontario, Canada, and the beer's on us,...we'll have the girls serve you.
