We just got rid of our land line, also known as our home phone. Even though we were on both State and National no-call lists all it was was a magnet for robo calls and telemarketers. We have our cell phones and don't miss it one bit. Has anyone else done the same thing?

Serveral people that I know of, including me. but then I started getting txt messages from AT&T. and Robo calls for auto waranty coverage. ON MY CELL PHONE!!
I stoped both with the option to be removed from their contact list.
I will go back to a "landline" but it will be Majic Jack which does work very good. I just can not get a phone number thats associated with my actual area.Gene Schertz 26V

wireless is the best.
we eliminated our land lines 2 years ago, now we have just the cell phones and the laptops with a cable high speed Internet and a wireless router, and very happy we did it, My number gets the few robo calls, No problems with getting them to stop calling.

We lost all of our electronic crap in an electrical fire about a month ago.
Have laptops and cell phones but won't do the land line again.
It is working well especially with verizon calls as they are free mobile to mobile._____________________________________________

I do have a cell (TracFone) which is a pay-as-you-go service. It's perfect for my usage pattern. I love it. I get service anywhere anytime and have never been disconnected - not once. I have never gotten robo nor telmarketers on the cell either, unlike the land line. Then again, I have never given the cell number out to anyone except friends. No applications, no internet purchases, no businesses, no government entity, etc. That probably makes a difference more than you might think.
Yes, as soon as possible bye bye land line.*

Cricket offers mobile broadband in my area with both PC and Mac compatibility, but they have a ton of issues that are not desirable, unfortunately. There is a lot of negative feedback out there about them. So, for now I just patiently wait.*

Wow Tim
You are really getting with the times here ! Speaking fancy and all that, Land Lines, etc.
I still get a few spam texts once in a while on my cell, it pisses you off, but then again, you can delete them without reading them. If a telemarketer calls me on my cell phone they get an earfull if it is during work hours. I don't mind personal calls on the cell during work, but nothing else.
Anyone notice more cold calls than previously with the economy in the dumps ?Dave Mason

With random dialing, the robo calls might never totally stop. What gets me are the LIAR calls, "last time we spoke" or "we have your records & want to help [ourselves] with you credit card debt" etc. Kick em if there down! The gall of these BS artists has no limit. We still have the land line but screen calls. Junk is at about 90% in Jersey, is it that bad everywhere?Team Tower

This is sort of unrelated, but anyway... I get free engineering magazines at work and a few months ago one of the magazine companies decided to tell their advertisers that I was interested in their products. I started getting tons of free samples of random stuff as well as phone calls. It was pretty annoying.
To make this post relevant to the topic- I didn't have a land line for a year or so but got the Comcast deal with phone, cable, and internet for $100 a few months back. I've gotten a couple of telemarketers, but none recently.Jake
