Welcome to the club I also seem to be a life long member since Im already having problems with the operation I just had last September 08 not even a year At least yours lasted more then 10 months before folding up **** patch! there are tons of law suits over the different patches that never seem to stay in place or hold your guts from falling back out.
Check out the link below its the best information web site I have found to date, they say this Dr. Goodyear is the best in the country.
Back in high school, I was able to take my Speedifour out of the trunk and carry it down the beach and place it on the transom of my E Mod boat by myself. At a AOMC meet in Constantine meet a few years ago, I popped a hernia carrying a Lightfour down to the boat. How age creeps up on you.

Had a double hernia two years ago. Waited until the summer was over to have it repaired, because I wanted to run the old race motors. Just lift carefully. It can be done.

/QUOTE] I can sympathize Al, Also used to be exceptionally strong. I used to set a '59 OMC 40 on the edge of the dock, stand balanced in my aluminum boat & lift & set it gently-arms extended.. by the back hood handle & front handle with ease. Then put it back when done so the wakes would'nt flip the boat. At 54 still sorta strong but pain/stiffness sure puts a damper on it. LoLs
The Doc sez, "Good news! You don't have a hernia. Bad news! You don't have a hernia, you have a Painful Groin Muscle Pull." The bad news part was he couldn't do squat for me, I just had to move slow and easy and wince a lot for several months until the PGMP went away.
Hernia, groin muscle, no matter - both suck. Hope you get it fixed right.
The medical side of me wants to say: Take care of you, be sure you give the repair time to heal, don't compromise it by doing too much too soon. You'll be back racing soon enough.
Hopefully some of the new products and techniques they have out will give you a much better result this time.
Welcome to hydroracer, we hope you enjoy your visit.
I had my second hernia surgery a year ago last April. New Super Glue instead of stitches...Up and going in one or two days...Still get some pain when I lift a V-6 Mercury powerhead....but recovery is quite fast compared to the first one 10-12 years ago...
I was so stupid on the first hernia....I didn't know what it was..I thought a hernia was somewhere else!

Having been hospitalized for a motorcycle crash it took nearly a week to stand & walk. Soon I wanted to walk more but they said take it slow & took 'the gown' away! That was the last straw, I got up later & walked to the nurse station & told em Id be good & ask 1st if they gave it back. Wont take long to stop caring who saw what
