  • Has anyone ever done the Richard Petty Nascar Driver Experience?

I did it last weekend in Las Vegas and let me tell you it kicked A**! I ran 18 laps and it was a lot of fun. The first session was 8 laps, the second was 10. By the end my top speed was 140MPH in the straights, with an average lap speed of 124.74 MPH which is a 43.29 second lap time around the 1.5 Mile Tri-Oval.

Anyone else ever done it? Or want to do it? I want to do it again

Oh yeah, and I better mention that she got this for me for Christmas

Yes, She kicks a**! I'm one lucky dude

Oh yeah, and she got 3 laps around the track with an instructor at 165MPH.

      Atlanta

I was given the Petty Experience as a gift about 6 years ago. I spent three hours at the Atlanta track. I drove 8 laps alone. My certificate stated an average speed close to 140mph, but it did not feel that fast. Of course, I had no point of comparison until that point.

That was the first time I realized that you could have fun driving a gasoline powered vehicle!!!

I thought the whole deal was a a lot of fun and those cats really new how to get you around the track. Richard was not there and they did not hand out Goody's headache powders aftrwards.

        At Charlotte

I did this twice, both at Charlotte Lowes Speedway, one during the day for 8 laps and one at night for 8 laps. Night was way better under the lights.

          Mike:

About 4 years ago Teri gave me the same present, to the same track. My top speed was about 144 mph.

This year the present was to a sprint car driving school.

You know they are boat racers..... they are all trying to out do each other with lap speeds in the race cars !!!!

Looks like fun, the open wheelers would be my thing. Outlaw Sprints.... ya baby.

                    Petty

I worked for the Petty driving experience in 1998 @ Daytona until the fire evacuation of 98. This for the old timers.... Doug Cohee ex airline pilot & ex DSH driver [727 D ] And I went for a ride,, We were limited to 59 second laps... Doug the driver and me the rider did a 49 second lap..Doug was fired. I was remanded to timing, tire checks and send the cars for fuel after 12- 15 laps..These were x bush cars with a passenger seat. The big boys were running 47-49 second laps... The France gang had spotters watching us all the time, for this was the first year...Back then it was $99 for 3 laps.. $150 for 10.. $399 for 3 10 lappers, you drive following a pace car....Bill

While vacationing in Disney a few years ago, my brothers (Darren and Matt Gallagher) and my Dad did the Richard Petty driving experience. They loved it!

I went for a ride with a professional driver and we got up to 146mph...awesome!

I DID IT TWICE, ONCE AT DISNEY WORLD THEN CHARLOTTE, IT WAS PRETTY COOL . BUT THE BEST PART WAS RIDING IN THE 15 PASSENGER VAN WITH THE INSTUCTOR RUNNING 100 MPH AROUND THE TRACK .

We used to run Cajon Speedway with a NASCAR late model asphalt car, 3/8 mile, not wide enough, about 100 down the back straights.
Katie drove a 600 sprint at Barona casino's dirt track. Great entry class for open wheel.

Never did the Petty thing, looks like a riots.
