Winter has arrived in Washington with a bang.....More snow then we've seen in over 20 years. Our front yard during the snow fall before we even got our total of a foot and a half......

This is a direct result of global warming, when you heat water it evaporates, then it has to fall, somewhere, sometime, 2-3 degrees is all it takes, (especially in our maritime climate) to make the difference between rain and snow. The freezing levels have yo-yo'd more in recent years in the Cascades (West Coast Mtn Range) than ever before. This year it snowed 10 feet in 12 days then it dumps 5 inches of rain. The 3 feet of snow didn't materialize last night because it was too warm, (my rain gauge showed 2.36 inches of rain last night and that would equate to about 28 inches of snow) freezing levels were supposed to drop but didn't as much as predicted. If it was 2-4 degrees F cooler it would have been completely different. Global warming will cause widely varied weather, not just a evenly warmer planet, some places will get cooler in the short term, while most get warmer, but the storms will get more intense with all the storm engine components in place and ramped up,(mainly moisture and heat). This is why climate change better describes our situation than global warming.

One snowstorm is not a trend, it's an anomaly, and yes, our planets' mean temps are rising. The only debatable question is why there's such a sudden and rapid rise in average global temps and are humans causing it. The only constant in our planets weather is that it's dynamic and ever changing.

So for now, shred the pow!
Follow the money--- alot of Corps and Politicans are having great Financial gain over the Global Warming Debate.. No one I repeat No one has proof that
(If in fact Global Warming is a bad thing) that it is man made. As I have said many times a good salesman, promoter, marketer can sell anything its time to sell global warming and there doing a great job We are now being asked to put green roofs (grass and weeds) on buildings in NYC. What bull my Dad is laughing in his grave.
If there is any proof of Global Warming caused by man then why hasn't the Goverment stopped traffic jams over bridges in cities like New York,Chicago(think Ch is worst),La, San Fran,Miami and so on. Answer tolls are a cash cow and they will not give up there money for anything...

          CEI Environmental Studies Program (Highlights)
The earth's atmosphere has actually cooled by 0.13° Celsius since 1979 according to highly accurate satellite-based atmospheric temperature measurements. By contrast, computer climate models predicted that the globe should have warmed by an easily detectable 0.4° C over the last fifteen years.

The scientific evidence argues against the existence of a greenhouse crisis, against the notion that realistic policies could achieve any meaningful climatic impact, and against the claim that we must act now if we are to reduce the greenhouse threat.

Current computer climate models are incapable of coupling the oceans and atmosphere; misrepresent the role of sea ice, snow caps, localized storms, and biological systems; and fail to account accurately for the effects of clouds.

Temperature records reveal that predictive models are off by a factor of two when applied retroactively in projecting the change in global temperature for this century.

The amount of warming from 1881 to 1993 is 0.54° C. Nearly 70 percent of the warming of the entire time period — 0.37° C —occurred in the first half of the record — before the period of the greatest build-up of greenhouse gases.

Accuracy in land-based measurements of global temperatures is frustrated by the dearth of stations, frequent station relocations, and changes in how ocean-going ships make measurements.

Although all of the greenhouse computer models predict that the greatest warming will occur in the Arctic region of the Northern Hemisphere, temperature records indicate that the Arctic has actually cooled by 0.88° C over the past fifty years.

Corrective environmental policies would have a minuscule impact on the climate. According to its own projections, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's own plan would spare the earth only a few hundredths of a degree of warming by middle of the next century.

          Educate yourself.

          http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/globalwarming.html

add-The book you're quoting from was published in 1995 (maybe 1997). From 1994-2006 most of his claims have been proven wrong.

CEI-In its Environmental Briefing Book for Congressional Candidates the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) argues that "the likeliest global climate change is the creation of a milder, greener, more prosperous world." One of CEI's publications is The True State of the Planet which was partially funded by the Olin Foundation, founded by Olin Chemical. In it Robert Balling claims that the "scientific evidence argues against the existence of a greenhouse crisis, against the notion that realistic policies could achieve any meaningful climatic impact, and against the claim that we must act now if we are to reduce the greenhouse threat."

Similarly John Shanahan argues in a Heritage Foundation Backgrounder that there is "enormous uncertainty associated with the scientific methodology used to predict future climate changes." Like the CEI he claims global warming is a theory that is widely challenged and that "almost all the scientists agreed that catastrophic global warming predictions are unsupported by scientific evidence" [emphasis added]. In each case they are questioning the most extreme predictions to cast doubt on the scientific consensus about more moderate consequences.

That right there folks is a perfect example of backwards science, having a conclusion then trying to fit the data to make it plausible.

Wish we could test on the lake, but only electric motors allowed. Most of the snow has now melted, but forecast indicates could see more in the weeks to come. Looking forward to spring and racing season.....

We are having a typical Montana winter. We have about 18 inches and are suppose to get up to another 12 inches. It is a good time to try out the new digital camera that Santa got us.

                      Spokane, WA

In December, we had a record month with over 5 feet of snow fall. We are suppose to get another 3-7 inches tonight. We are running out of places to put it. I have shoveled more roofs this year, than ever before, of course I havn't done mine yet except for the garage. I don't pay myself as well as the neighbors pay me. LOL We have had over 30 commercial buildings roof collapse, Walmart actually closed the doors for snow removal off the roof, and roof inspections. It's nuts I say. Here is a few photos of playing in the snow a few days ago

If you don't think Global warming is not man made then you are walking with your eyes closed. Just saw a special last night about Glacier National Park in Montana...It's all but gone...I.E. No Glaciers! They have disappered in a mear 50 years! That has never happened in the history of mankind. What about the big Hole in the Ozone layer over Antartica? What about Greenland? They are losing ice shelves like a fat kid eating a cake!

I form my opinion not on Government opinions, but from watching it happen. Wild weather is apart of Global warming. Harsher winters. Bigger Hurricanes (Katrina). Bigger droughts. Hotter winters in the south. LA, Califonia was 70 degrees over Christmas. Wild fires will be a big problem again there this summer.

Believe what you want to believe, but the fact is this is happening and we're causing it.

I have a 5hp Toro Snowblower mixed 50:1 with redline synthetic and a couple ounces of Castor to simulate boat racing My neighbor actually asked me if I had converted it to methanol. LOL
