    wow...

You live in a beautiful place, Mike. So much for global warming!

Stay warm up there...remember all that snow will eventually melt and you can then race on it in the spring!

At 28-33F it's easy to stay warm Now we're in a flood watch with it being so warm and it's still raining hard. It's comical when we get one stretch of cold weather, or a couple of snowstorms, and someone says , "so much for global warming".

This is a direct result of global warming, when you heat water it evaporates, then it has to fall, somewhere, sometime, 2-3 degrees is all it takes, (especially in our maritime climate) to make the difference between rain and snow. The freezing levels have yo-yo'd more in recent years in the Cascades (West Coast Mtn Range) than ever before. This year it snowed 10 feet in 12 days then it dumps 5 inches of rain. The 3 feet of snow didn't materialize last night because it was too warm, (my rain gauge showed 2.36 inches of rain last night and that would equate to about 28 inches of snow) freezing levels were supposed to drop but didn't as much as predicted. If it was 2-4 degrees F cooler it would have been completely different. Global warming will cause widely varied weather, not just a evenly warmer planet, some places will get cooler in the short term, while most get warmer, but the storms will get more intense with all the storm engine components in place and ramped up,(mainly moisture and heat). This is why climate change better describes our situation than global warming.

One snowstorm is not a trend, it's an anomaly, and yes, our planets' mean temps are rising. The only debatable question is why there's such a sudden and rapid rise in average global temps and are humans causing it. The only constant in our planets weather is that it's dynamic and ever changing.

So for now, shred the pow!

        Winter

As far as I'm concerned your weather report could be worse. It could be here in Hernando, FL. Partly cloudy and 65-70 degrees today then zooming into the low 80's next week. lol. Just some new year fun.

        Sincerely,
        Don Graham

Mike, yes, I understand global warming...that was just tongue in cheek...
My wife Christine is studying glaciers and i feel like i am learning alot. From your pics it looks like you wont have to fear any flooding hopefully.

Don, that was not fair! It was 28 in my boat shop yesterday when I gave up and went back in the house!

I thought you might have been a little sarcastic, I almost deleted my post. Yes, ice is the key for the health (regulating the temperature) of our planet.
We can see what the weather and atmosphere was like long before we measured the planets conditions.
It's all about common sense and long term sustainability.

No got snow. I thought I saw a few flakes a couple weeks ago, but it was just sawdust on my glasses . . .

I do not miss snow. I do not miss ice. Temp gets below 40 call me at home, I'll be in hibernation . . .

                          I have snow shovels!

When we moved south I brought my snow shovels, just in case. I just asked them and they are very happy hanging out with the dust bunnies in the garage. Last time they got a workout was shoveling sand offa the driveway when we were at the beach.

Shoveled off the top of the boat trailer today, my boats looked cold, the bottles of gear oil and Simple Greeen are frozen solid! Florida is sounding pretty good right now. GL
