  • Bye bye Brightcove TV

HRTV will no longer be featured on the Brightcove platform effective Dec 17th 2008 this change was due to the change Brightcove has made to its pricing structure for 2009 and beyond. The lowest price Brightcove player to small organizations like HRTV will start at a monthly rate of $6000 needless to say I will no longer be using the Brightcove platform.

**Going forward into the new year this is just another reason why I must stress the importance of trying to get as many folks as possible to sign up as contributing HR members so that we may continue to host the premier online information portal for Stock Mod and Pro racing. Gone are the good old days of free anything! someone must pay its just a fact of life these days.

Important Changes to the Brightcove Network Service

    Dear Daniel,
We're sending you this email because you created or used at least one free Brightcove Network account during the last two years.
Regretfully, we've decided to discontinue the Brightcove Network (the free version of our service). The discontinuation of the free Brightcove Network accounts will notaffect Brightcove platform accounts that customers have paid to use.
Please see the FAQ for complete details about this transition.
On December 17, 2008, we will be shutting down Brightcove Network accounts that have not been upgraded to paid Brightcove platform accounts. At the same time, we will be shutting down the Brightcove.TVwebsite (which is separate from the corporate Brightcove website).
Until December 17, 2008, your Brightcove Network account will remain fully functional; the players that you have published will continue to operate; and you can keep using the Brightcove Console as you have been using it to date. At the same time, we are giving you a free trial of Brightcove 3.

$6,000 / month! How can anyone afford that?

Thanks for trying Dan. You've done a great job with the site. HydroRacer has come a very long ways since I first found it back in about '98 or '99 (http://dwl17.myikonboard.com/viewboard.php).
    ...

OMC FE/SE powerhead parts for sale. Kurcz ported block, Mod 50 pistons and cylinder head, exhaust, etc.

      Hey Dave,

Brightcove powers online video for some of the world's largest broadcast, print, music and brand publishers. They have decided to cater only to high end clients like Dupont and Sony, large corporations like these would not be caught dead using a platform like YouTube.

The YouTube video compression and quality is horrible! I am in the process of transferring all the files over to my Blip TV account which I already had until I come up with a viable solution. In the meantime feel free to upload your race footage to the HRTV upload page which can be found on the side menu of the site near the top of the page.

You don't get quality like this on YouTube

Very true Sam the problems is that YouTube will not play the high res file as the default selection the viewer must select the high res option. The real problem is that not enough folks of the older generation are YouTube savvy and tend to overlook the high res option. On the filp side generation X goes straight to it.

Ask the regular person on the street, have you heard of YouTube..... most would say yes. Ask them about Brightcove and they would say no. Go where the people are! I do know where you are comming from! Wanting to take advantage of the best quality options out there. Remember Hydroracer is a great source of information no matter which platform you choose.
It matters to me! my main objective is to represent the sport in a very professional manner. If the site never attracts a single sponsor thats fine but when the potential sponsor drops by for a look I want you guys to shine! first impressions mean a lot.
