Hey guys. I will be getting back into a sport that I actually had planned on doing years ago. I started riding Motocross about 2 years before making my first boat race. I never got to try an actual race do to the fact that I was either hurt from riding... or my bike was broke. Then all of our money started getting spent on our boat racing equipment. Im buying a new bike tomorrow to get back into the swing of things Moto-wise. I was just curious as to know whether or not there was anyone else out there in boat racing land that rides aswell. If so, maybe we could have a Boat Racer's Motocross race one day... I think that would be quite interesting.

Yes! My 15 year old nephew, Jonathan Brewster (ASH/20ssH driver) races motocross. He runs at Ohio International www.handracing.com He has a new Yamaha 250 that I'm scared of. No idea how he drives it as hard as he does.
Also, at this track, Ken Rosado (former FEH driver from MA, now OH) can be found each week selling motocross parts with his brother. Small world.

Go for it!! It's a blast!! I raced bikes back in the 70's and 80's. Way before they had the suspensions that are available today. I raced motocross, scrambles, hare scrambles, and flat track. But the most fun I ever had on a bike was in the winter racing on ice. They were usually sponsored by a lakeside tavern, so that probably had a lot to do with the level of enjoyment. Bikes also probably had a little to do with my getting a new hip a couple of years ago. The only really place I ever felt safe riding a bike was on a track. Riding on the road scares me to death.
Have fun and be safe,

I started racing Motocross back in 1976 in the 100cc class, after a season of that it was all 125cc & 250cc Pro / Am class stuff, did a little open class in the 80's.
I got out of it in late 82. (got married, had kids, got a real job, etc).
Started racing MX / SX again in 1998. I found it unfulfilling do to the shorter moto format that all the promoters have going these days. Then a friend of mine turned me on to Hare Scrambles / Cross Country. Had a kick A$$ time with that up till 2005 when I finished building my first hydro...Been racing boats ever since.
I must admit though, I have been thinking about doing a CC race in January 09Last edited by Jeff Akers; 10-21-2008, 03:41 PM.93-C

I am actually planning on trying to make an actual Motocross here in a year or so. Maybe a local event in southern Louisiana. Back when I rode previous to this.. i wasnt really interested in the racing aspect of the sport. I was more of the show off type, that loved taking hands and feet off the bike in the air. I was obsessed with Freestyle at that point. Freestyle is still by far my thing haha. But I really want to take things a bit slower, and learn how to be faster and maybe try a race or two. Just to get it out of my system haha.John Mathews @ Mathews Racing L-390

LOL not going to happen dude, once you go bike you never go back!
I realy love riding in the wide open desert of the south west. Fill the tank up and hope you make it back to the truck before you run out of gas.Gene Schertz 26V

Well I bought the bike today. Its sooo much fun riding again. I started jumping again today, and playing on the MX Fun Box that I have built recently. I got a few of my tricks back too. I just couldnt jump with out doing a few Can Cans, and No Hand Landers.John Mathews @ Mathews Racing L-390
