Wow, that is one cool site!!!!! Thanks for the link. Gustov hit us with 10 inches of rain and we were without power for 36 hours and we are in North central Arkansas. So we are really watching Ike!!!

Good site! Thanks David for the info. My next concern--- Gasoline has gone up 30 cents per gallon in the last two days per Ike scare. ?What's it going to be in Illinois next week in the Shelbyville area? B BURT

This time of year is a typically low gas usage time ... there is a good chance that normal reserves will bounce the price back down as soon as normal steady production is assured. The worst possible scenario is if you hear on the news that 20 or 30 offshore rigs are down and 2 or 3 refineries are off line. If you don't hear that news, relax, after the scare is over the price will float back down. This is just a panic thing like the mid Atlantic "milk, bread, toilet paper" thing when a dusting of snow is forecast.

Gustav dumped a lot of water here too but the wind wasn't that bad. I didn't lose power.

Ike was a different story! High winds (gusts probably as high as 70mph and for several hours - big storm), lots of trees down, not all that much rain. I just got power back about 5 minutes ago (off for 27.5 hours). Louisiana heat and humidity without A/C isn't a lot of fun.

If ya gotta ask, ya can't afford it - BUT we all know that you can afford it!

I haven't had electricity so I don't know how bad the refineries from Lake Charles to Houston got hit. If they weren't too badly damaged prices will probably go back down a little. I think that the oil companies take any excuse / opportunity they can to raise prices so who knows what they'll do. Some stations around here raised their prices 20 cents or so but most only jacked the price up about a nickel. The cheapest I've seen was $3.60 / gallon for regular unleaded.
