      Preview ?

      Of the cover design?

On second thought, after typing out a recipe submission I'm HUNGRY! If you posted the cookbook cover with a scrumptious meal picture I'd probably lunge at the LCD screen and take a bite.

        preview of cover - NOT

I think the group decision is to keep the cover a surprise till the book's are sold....!!

          Become famous......don't be left out

This "soon to be" amazing cookbook already boasts the favorite recipes of boat racing families across the nation. Many have been cooked in the pits; others are to be anticipated this year and next.

Calling all cooks to share your favs with your boat racing family and get the praise that you so richly deserve. A side benefit is that you can get almost anything you desire, from a hungry racer or pit person, with just a whiff of a delicious meal.

            Let's Help the J Kids

Mother nature is calling for rain over the entire eastern half of the country this weekend. For those of you not racing in the rain at Dayton or Big Rapids or on the run from "Ike", this is a perfect weekend to get those recipes copied and sent in to Nina. And for those of you in the western half of the country where the weather is good, take a break from the sun and get your recipes in. Let's keep Nina really busy

The cookbook is coming together, the cover is designed, and you don't want to be left out! Even those of you who claim you can't cook can contribute something from your wife's, girlfriend's, mother's recipe box. Any and all contributions greatfully accepted.

            Please email to ninerp@verizon.net

            Thanks,

            The cookbook committee

Did you send in your recipe yet?

Ok, Nina says she's received quite a few recipes over the weekend and the cookbook is starting to come together. But she still isn't saying "UNCLE" so.....lets send in recipes until she begs us to stop. Even better, let's make Ian say "Uncle"

You know you all love the "j kids" and the "soon to be j kids" and the "used to be j kids" so let's send in those recipes and make this project a huge success.

So send them in to ninerp@verizon.net

                Thanks,
                Mary

                    Hey Mary and Jeff

I have 25 cases of unwanted paper in one of our warehouses here at work. It is thicker than usual and might be perfect for this project. If you would like I could bring some to Franklin. Let me know, thanks! Jeff

                      Firehouse Recipe for PChops

Take an oven roaster pan, smaller if for only a few people, and place pork chops up on their edge in middle of pan. A large can of pork and beans or two. Brown Sugar to taste and lots of your favorite barby sauce. Need some sliced onions too unless you don't care for them. Bake covered in oven at 350 until done. Make a pile of mashed potatoes. Use the p chops and beans combo like a gravy. Makes a big mess on the plate but sure is good. Remember firefighters don't use recipe amounts like everyone else, just put more in the mess till it looks and tastes good.

Cast Iron Skillet Liver and Onions

Dredge nice looking beef liver in flour. In an iron skillet with a lid, oil up the bottom with olive oil. Brown the liver slices but don't cook them to long at this time. Slice the onions and brown them but don't caramelize them. Some green pepper slices. Place the liver, onions, and peppers in the skillet. Add a cup of water, sprinkle a little more flour over everything and cover. Cook for about 1 hour on a low and slow heat, should just bubble. Makes a wonderful gravy also.

                          Is there still time?

Just sent in one of mine (ok not mine as I can burn water) - am working on a couple more.

                          Has Nina said "enough" yet?

                            Cookbook

There is still time. The deadline is October 15th and neither Ian nor Nina has said "Uncle" yet so keep those recipes coming. We're hoping for recipes from all over the country. Thanks to all of you who have sent recipes in already!!!
