    Big Pappa is in!

I sent Dana "Big Pappa" Hillis an e-mail asking for help and got the following reply....

Russ - good to hear from you - who do I forward recipes to - I will have to buy a couple - we are cooking at tom varn park oct 17th and 18th - you had mentioned bringing a boat to set up - give me a call - dana big papa hillis

I will forward him the information. The boat display he is referring to is for a cook off in Brooksville before the Worlds. We are planning on displaying some J stuff and hopefully can dig up a PRO rig and advertise for the Worlds! This is a National cook off with teams from around the U.S. Could be a great opportunity to promote the sport and get a few extra recipes for the cause!

      A Good Compromise

This is a good compromise and for me it is easily doable. I would suggest giving some us a few specs so we are all submitting similar pages. For example, 8 1/2" x 11" with a 1 1/2" border. A wider border will allow Nina to add design elements such as page numbers, a header or footer, and to do left page/right page justification.

Had this one for years, One pound of cooked hamberger, one can of baked beans, one can of chopped stewd tomatos, one cut up onion, two table spoons of sugar, cooked all together served with italian bread, just double to make more.

                Recipies (top secret)

I'm giving up my steak marinade, french toast and "bridesmaid" baked bean recipies.

I hope we see some green bean favorites from Cooper Jess.
and some cookie magic from Mod John.

If we send in a bunch could we maybe try for a Vol.2 next year Heck I'd pay $25.00 if it were cool, and this is a fund raiser right?

Ah yes, John's oatmeal raisin cookies. I'd pay the price of the book for just that recipe.

Something about the "bridesmaid" baked beans is frightening me.

                      be afraid

Yeah, I scare myself sometimes. How do you give Baked beans a boat racing type handle? Bridesmaid = almost the best you ever had.....

                        Back to the front

Any more good recipes out there? Let's make this a great cookbook. Share your favorite recipes with your friends.

Remember, it is for the j kids. All proceeds go directly to their scholarship fund. Donations will also be accepted for those of you who want to pay more than the asking price for the cookbooks.

I don't know where to send this, so feel free to do this this whatever you please.

For those who raise their own corn and can it, I have a very simple easy way to store corn and to where it tastes just like it came off the cobb, but without that cobby taste!

First thing you need to do is pick your ears (of corn that is) about 30 to 40 pending on size. Now take and cut the kernals off the cobb, do enough ears to fill 4 one quart jars. Now, put the 4 quarts of corn in a good sized pot or kettle. Add 4 teaspoons of salt, 1 quart of water and 1/4 cup of sugar (Caution: some corn is much sweeter than others, so sugar to suit; example, golden jubalee I would add the whole amount, peaches and cream I would add half that amount, Illious sweet I would add a forth that amount!) Now bring all of this to a good rolling boil for ten minute, then remove from heat, drain the water off and let cool. When completely cool, put the desired amount in ziplock freezer bags and freeze. A year from now this corn will taste just like it came off the cobb.

I have some barbeque recipes, but if I told you, I would have to kill you...just kidding. Who's ever in charge of this, if they could email me, I will be happy to share those as well, I just don't want them pirated..they are unbelievably good!!

                                Increase in price

Due to the overwhelming number of requests, the price of the cookbooks has been increased to $10.00 each, all proceeds to benefit the J Driver Scholarship Fund in development.

A notice will be included in the next APBA E-News alert going out.

Keep those recipes coming and pass along recipe requests to your friends, particularly those who don't use computers and might not know about this thread, we don't want them to be left out!
