  • 45 HP Chrysler Ignition Issues

I am having trouble with my 1976 Chrysler outboard motor -- no spark. Coils test fine and I changed the plugs. I used a sparky board and neither plug is firing. Motor has the standard ignition, electric start, and turns over good; too early of a model for a Ralph Nader kill switch... I'm going to pull the flywheel to check the points. Any suggestions (other than buying a new motor)? Are there any former Chrysler marine mechs out there???

    Only two choices here.

Coils are rarely the problem when there is no spark. Either the points are grounded out (make that bad points) or the condenser is bad. There is usually no other cause.
