A some of you know, Jamie Nilsen isn't just a Hall of Champions member, he is also quite a baseball player. If you ask his coach, he's the best player in Central Washington University history. He won other acclaim in this his senior season as well. http://www.wildcatsports.com/press.php?id=1258
While a couple of teams contacted him, when the major league draft would down last week, his name hadn't been called. So as Jamie waited Saturday morning for driver's meeting to start, he was looking forward to his first race of the season, first ride in his new boat, and the first tuneup for DePue (and probably not yet thinking about what kind of job a college graduate with a degree in finance can get with the economy the way it is).
And then his cell phone rang.
It was the Kansas City Royals. They needed a shortstop for their rookie league team in Surprise, Arizona. Guess what Jamie is doing Tuesday night?
Congrats, my friend. That sound you hear is the OSY participants at DePue breathing a sigh of relief.
