  • Kevlar turtleneck?

If any of you folks have seen the sports news lately, you've no doubt seen the most recent hockey incident/injury. An NHL hockey player was accidentally cut in the throat by a teammates skate. The cut servered his courouted (spelling?) artery. Fortunatley, the player survived his injury.
This incident makes me think about all the sharp things sticking out of our boats. And I think about my relativley unprotected neck!
I am aware of the many neck (spine) injury guards out there. Does anybody offer a kind of cut protection to cover my neck?

This video is not for the squemish:

Jeff, I've been thinking about a Kevlar "Dickie" ever since Brandt Hilsen died at Williamsport. Even if it was just a flap that was sewn to the inside of the jacket on one side and loose, tucked in on the other side, it would help.

To keep Bill happy, I don't think something like this should be mandatory, but I'd buy it if it was available.

I do speed skating in the winter and they sell all kinds of light weight/duty kevlar clothes stuff... I don't have the time at the moment to look that up, but worth checking that sports safety gear out, might have what you need... I just wear a hockey neck guard.

Itech makes shirts with a kevlar neck in it...Not really chaep but not too bad either.
I'm not jumping all over for a new safety rule, but for anyone who is interested in something for add peace of ming for themself or a family member, this would be a good option.

I found this, I think it is what Jeff was asking about: http://www.tactical-world.com/prodde...4dcdc25471f161

Comes up higher on neck and costs less

That looks like it would do the job...Looks like it would keep you warm in the cooler days, not sure i could stand that whe it is 90 or higher though!!
I'm going check out one of the hockey shirts and see how high it actually comes up.

while we all know it will do nearly nothing as far as impact force. I think it seems to be pretty good cut protection esp. at that price, cheap insurance
              good find ! Sam
