    10 Point

Yes it is a 10 point. Large number of deer here but most are shot before they reach maturity. Lots of hunters. I took the deer with my trusty 270 I bought in 1977 (the only deer rifle I own).

Richard your right in ark the entire state goes into a frenzy, local sporting stores, car dealerships and even gas stations have BIG BUCK contest.
Men,women and children are encouraged to hunt. Some people hunt around the clock and even resort to hunting out of automobiles (road hunters) a buck here of any size is in grave danger. Many local schools even have a DEER DAY.160,000 or so will be checked at wildlife check stations thousands will be unrecorded. Special hunts in areas where overpopulated .I think Bull Shoals is one of those areas.Arkansas game and fish sells thousands of hunting license but we dont see many enforcement officers. Pouching in some areas is rampent and keeps harvest of large mature bucks very unlikley.

          What I do this winter . . . ARFF!

And summer, and seasons in between. ARFF = Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting. No lie. I'm on the ARFF crew at our regional airport. I get to play with cool toys! Drive the 25 ton crash truck which has joystick operated turret guns that can shoot foam, water, or chems more'n 200 feet. Attached is a pic of me geared up for ARFF duty. Wish I had a pic of me working a 1 1/2" hose line at the live burn practuice Wednesday, but we were practicing with a US Marine Crash Crew on New River MCAS and the military kinda frowns on camare use on base. Frowns? Yeah, high & tight with a really big gun sez no cameras.

Yes, that is me under all that heat reflective gear. No badass beard like the Augustine crew, facial hair gets in the way of a proper seal on the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus face mask. Scene was Saturday training where, needing practice, I volunteered to demo proper gear donning for the crew.

Watch the game by the fireplace, have a few beers,go on to the deck and blast Bambi for supper??

doesn't seem like much sport in that, but then again I'm not a hunter.

A True Story for your Christmas Enjoyment:

Back in about 1986-87, Chip Hanauer was driving a boat sponsored by Miller Beer, who was also sponsoring ZZ Top's tour. Apparently when they were racing back east, the ZZ Top guys came out and watched a race due to their connections with Miller and decide that Hydroplane Racing Was All That (smart guys!)

So, the Gibbons Brothers came to Tri Cities and hung out in the Miller pits. I remember them walking down the beach in Columbia Park in the 105+ degree weather and all the drunks...er....race fans....watching them saying things like "Hey, look at those guys trying to look like ZZ Top! Nice try, but not quite......"

                If they'd only known......

                Happy Crimble,

If you ever taste a Black Tail Deer hamburger right off of the bar-b-q, it is quirt likely you would become a hunter.

Sweet ride! It's nice to see that you're giving Jackson everything you wish you had as a kid. Don't let him get to comfortable in that car he's a boat racer.

Nice Photos. The snow makes it easier to track the Deer and Elk.
