  • Attention HR photo bugs please read

    Good morning all,

As we enter the final stretch of the 2009 season and national championships come to close I urge all of you to choose an online photo sharing service to help protect your precious memories.
While sharing photos here on HR is fun and great entertainment for all the shut ins it is not a safe storage place for your keepsake photos. I use flickr and also make a CD or DVD backup disc of all my “must keep photos”

**Why Use a Photo Sharing Service?

Photo sharing services make organizing, storing and sharing digital photos convenient, easy, safe and most importantly–fun. Through online photo albums, friends and family can join by sharing pictures of important events, good times and special occasions.

Photo hosting websites offer other ways to share pictures. You can order unique gifts featuring your favorite photos. You can create luggage tags, mugs, calendars, clothing, tiles, edible chocolate photos or even photo cards with a voice recording. The service will send the gift anywhere you choose.

Many photo sharing services offer the amenities and space where tight–knit groups or communities can come together and share photographs and exchange ideas about photography. You can post your pictures for public view where other members can offer feedback on your pictures and visa–versa. Many sites publish engaging, professional and beautiful images of people and places from around the world for browsing and comment.

In this site, you’ll find articles on photography and comprehensive reviews on photo sharing services that will help you make an informed decision on which service is right for you. At TopTenREVIEWS, we do the research so you don’t have to.™

Another reason to use the photosharing websites is that it promotes our sport outside our particular specialty websites.

When you put a pic on Photobucket, etc, it is there for the whole world to see and there is possibility that people who never knew outboard racing existed will learn about it and become interested enough to give it a try. Also people who knew about it, but did not know where to find racing will find it and follow comments about your pic to sites like Hydroracer.net.

Same thing for videos on YouTube

For a sport so needy for new blood, we cannot afford to ignore these FREE resources

When you put up photos and video, tag them with Hydroracer, APBA, USTS or NBRA with the acronym, the names written out and a complete url of at least one of our sites.

The right photos with helpful links could actually bring in hundreds of new members over the next few years.

Good points Sam, the power of the internet don't underestimated it. There is no way in the world we could ever sufer from over exposure. Since selling HR I have moved on to the blogging world concentrating my efforts on taping into the social media sites by using the "share this" method I have installed on my blog.

        Dan,

This is great advice. There are some great resources, some of which are free, like Sam said. While we love to have the pictures, we should not be considered a storage service, make sure that you keep the orginal pictures on a storage device at home or with a storage service.

        Teresa

Welcome to hydroracer, we hope you enjoy your visit.
