Great photo's from Silver Lake. Looks like some close races in DSH. Gotta love the two-person runabout and that 6-cyl merc.

Great Race!

What can you say: 145 entries on Saturday, and 123 on Sunday, for a race that was just a regular old "backyard" race with nothing particularly special on the line.

A big shout out to the race sponsors: Ron Jones Jr and Composite Laminate Specialties, who picked up the entry fee tab for the D Stock and D Mod Hydros this weekend; also Larry Oberto and the Oberto Sausage Company for sponsoring the T-Shirt awards, hats, beef jerky for all (Breakfast of Champions) and some special prizes for 4 lucky kids who won Oberto 1:25 scale electric RC hydros.

Finally, this is a race that was pivotal for SOA: The longtime owners of the Silver Lake Resort, the Henley Family, sold the park last year to a new developer. There was a big risk that this could have been another site of racing that would be lost to "progress". Fortunately, the new owners let us come in, do our thing, and seemed VERY supportive of boat racing. In fact, the gentleman who is the new owner was overheard asking Mike Johnson, "what would be a good class for me?" Needless to say, we gotta get this guy in a boat.

Kudos to Tony Perman for hosting a GREAT event!
