  • Extreme Close-up Contest for December 2, 2007

After Johnny W’s record breaking 7 minute identification in last week’s contest, I vowed to make them harder. This week’s contest is so hard even I don’t know who the driver is in this photo. And yes, the driver >>is<< there. What you see (or don't see) is what the camera captured -- I did not use Photoshop to hide the driver. This picture simply shows one good, old-fashioned, hose down.

So if I don’t know who the driver is, how will I know when the driver is identified correctly? Because I know who the driver >>is NOT<< based on the sequence of photos in which I can identify the other drivers in the heat.

So to win this week’s contest guessing/identifying the class is as important as guessing/identifying the driver so please provide both in your response.

My first hint: This pic is from Lock Haven, PA 2007.

As usual, family members and racing team members of this driver are not eligible to enter this week’s contest – it would be, um, too easy.

        No, Not Troy

No, it's not Troy. Troy does not race this class.

Ryan, was it just that you were >>hoping<< that was you on the inside hosing down Troy?

Johnny, you won't break a record but you can still win.

        Thanks for playing...

              All good guesses...

              All good guesses...but no.

I'm trying to be generous with my hints: Mike Thierfelder, Matt D'Agostino, and GW Resch, Jr. did not race this class in 2007.

I'm about 90% sure it's a Reed Hull. And the only racers that I know of that race that type of hull that haven't been mentioned are Scott Reed, Scott Clarke, and AJ Jennings. Scott Reed ran CSH a number of times so he's out. Is it Scott Clarke in CMH, or possibly AJ ran CMH there?

                      Axsh?

Why AXSH Johnny? Have you had a view like this from the cockpit?

I took a lot of photos of AXSH this year because Austin raced it. I admire your spunk, but no, it's not AXSH.

I had a feeling it might be Scott in CMH, not Troy, I just figured Scott would be out front!!

                              The sequence...

First out of the turn is a Jennings. But you would have to know which Jennings has a green kevlar suit and which has an orange kevlar suit to know who is who and what class this might be.

I don't know who is behind Jennings but that driver is not in the next shot anyway.

                              more to come...

P.S. I claimed the first photo as my own. It's not. On further review, Luke, my J Driver took this series.
